Chapter 27
Chapter 27 Threat
“Are you threatening me?”
Colton leaned back on the couch, his expression darkening.
Initially, the Beckman family behaved in such a manner, constantly pushing boundaries and seizing every opportunity for their own gain Their insatiable greed was utterly repulsive and disgusting.
Even after the passage of five years, Francesca remained unchanged, still exhibiting the same traits and characteristics as before.
Colton’s gaze was cold, and his tone was indifferent as he remarked, “The Beckman family owes me quite a lot over the past few years. Do you think you can just write it off like that?”
While he may not have held the Beckman family’s possessions in high regard, he was unwilling to let them be taken away so easily, especially not in such a casual manner.
Francesca was taken aback, guessing that the man must have
misunderstood her intentions. A hint of mockery flashed in her eyes. He must have thought I was asking for this favor for the sake of the Beckmans.
Despite being married to Colton for three years, Francesca had never been able to discuss the matters regarding the Beckman family with him. He had always been unwilling to listen, so she had given up on explaining. “Well, Mr. Zeller, you can also choose not to help. I still have plenty of videos like that in my possession,” Francesca said sarcastically. Elsa had gone to great lengths to provoke her back then, but she was unfazed.
Colton sneered. “Francesca, you’ve certainly become more audacious. We can discuss this further when I return to the country. In the meantime—”

Before he could finish speaking, Francesca had already hung up the phone.
As he watched the screen of his phone go black, Colton’s face darkened as well.
This was the first time someone had dared to hang up on him, especially when that person was Francesca!
If only it had been in the past…
Quickly dismissing the involuntary thought that arose, Colton sought out his assistant, Timothy. “Complete the tasks within three days. I need to return to the country as soon as possible.”
“Mommy?”
As soon as Francesca ended the call, Luna stealthily approached the study door, wearing a sweet smile on her face.
The oppressive feeling in Francesca’s heart dissipated quickly, and a smile. graced her face. She gently patted the little girl’s head and asked, “Mommy needs to go to the office later. Would you like to go to your godfather’s place or…”
Ever since they first met, Yoel had been extremely attentive and caring toward her two children. Without Francesca even realizing it the kids had already accepted him as their godfather.
It could be said that Yoel was their next favorite person after Francesca.
Sure enough, before she could finish speaking, Luna quickly chimed in, “We wanna go to Uncle Yoel’s place!”
“I knew it! Luna likes me the most!”

At the entrance, Yoel’s voice could be heard. The man had a smile. plastered on his face as he tenderly held Lukas‘ hand. Upon catching sight. of them, Luna broke into a wide grin and eagerly ran over to join them.
The three of them shared laughter for a while before Francesca turned to Yoel and asked. “Can you take them with you? Considering your father…”
“It’s fine.” Yoel waved his hand nonchalantly. “What does it matter if my dad is angry? Can he really go against my mom? The last time, when he called me, my mom scolded him so fiercely. Now, he doesn’t dare to say much.”
The thought of Anna’s fiery scolding style brought a burst of laughter to Francesca’s lips.
In that case, Francesca felt at ease leaving the children in Yoel’s care.
Upon arriving at the Fashn Group by car, Francesca immediately attracted. quite a bit of attention as soon as she entered. The receptionist quickly approached her and greeted her, “Ms. Shelley?”
Although the employees had never met their legendary and mysterious CEO, Marcus had deliberately shown them a photo of Francesca to ensure they wouldn’t inadvertently overlook such an important individual.
Francesca flashed the receptionist a faint smile. “Thank you.”
It was only after Francesca had left that the receptionist snapped back to reality and hastily sent a message to the company group chat: Ahhh! The CEO is absolutely stunning!
Francesca had no idea what had happened. By the time she arrived at the top floor, Marcus had already been waiting at the door for quite some
time.
“Ms. Shelley!” Marcus respectfully led the way, taking Francesca to the

office.
Although Francesca had been involved in the establishment of Fashn Group, it was her first time visiting the office. The space was bright and pristine, and as she looked up, she could see the bustling world below her, as if everything lay at her feet.
As she recalled the days when she used to fawn over Colton, Francesca’s eyes were filled with mockery. Indeed, only after experiencing a vast and expansive world would one realize how shallow they once were.
“Our discussions with Zeller Group regarding the proposal are almost complete. Would you like to have a look at it?” Marcus placed the collaboration proposal on Francesca’s desk as he asked, his tone tentative.
Francesca didn’t rush to open it. Instead, she looked at her assistant and retorted with a question, “Do you think I would refuse to cooperate with Zeller Group because of my personal matters?”
The funds required for the project were so substantial that no other company had the audacity to collaborate with them, apart from Zeller Group.
Francesca’s gaze was penetrating, causing Marcus to instinctively lower his head. He suddenly realized that he had been overwhelmed by the pressure emanating from the seemingly gentle woman standing before.
him.
“Don’t worry, our collaboration with Zeller Group will not be affected by my relationship with Mr. Zeller. Let Mr. Duncan Doyle handle the contract signing with them,” Francesca said after carefully reviewing the plan.
The project was originally handled by Duncan, so it was only fair to let him sign the contract.

Marcus nodded, hesitated for a moment, and then said, “Earlier, Mr. Zeller had extended multiple invitations, hoping you’d have dinner with him.”
Francesca’s movements paused slightly, and she refused without hesitation. “No need.”
Although she didn’t intend to hide her identity, she also didn’t want to expose herself, especially before the situation regarding her connection to the Beckman family had been sorted out.
Gathering her wandering thoughts, Francesca had just picked up the documents beside her. when her phone rang again.
“I heard you went to Fashn Group today.”
A delicate female voice came from the other end of the phone, causing Francesca to furrow her brow.
I’ve barely been at the company for half an hour, and I’ve already received a call from Lacey, checking in on me. Is she blatantly implying that she has someone planted within the company?
The Shelley family had very few descendants. Initially, their grandfather intended for Lacey to take over the company. However, Francesca suddenly appeared and gained the favor of the elderly man, causing Lacey to develop an intense and deep–seated hatred toward Francesca.
“If you ever return to the country, you’re always welcome to visit,” said Francesca with a smile.
“Okay, I’ll make sure to visit you when I come back,” Lacey replied. affectionately, her tone resembling that of a caring older sister speaking to her younger sibling.
“Sure.”

After some casual chitchat between the two, Lacey suddenly asked with concern, “I heard that the children secretly went back to Zosteylor. Granddad was furious when he found out. What would we do if something happened to the kids? They’re still so young, after all.”
Francesca’s face darkened at once.
She tightened her grip on the phone and responded with a cold tone, “The children are doing just fine, so there’s no need for you to worry. However, if you truly care about them, why not hire ten bodyguards to accompany them around the clock? That would give me peace of mind.”
Lacey was momentarily stumped for words.
She was taken aback by Francesca’s calm and composed demeanor, as well as her sharp retort.
“Of course, no problem,” Lacey said without changing her tone. “I’ll have my assistant take care of it.”
After the two women ended the call, a frown marred Francesca’s visage as she immediately dialed the butler’s number. “Send over the toys that Lacey had gifted the children.”
