Chapter 226
Chapter 226
“So you’re coming to me now because you didn’t reserve the cherry wood flooring in advance, huh? I
really like you, and I’d love to keep some aside for Herbert’s sake. But you know our cherry wood
flooring must be booked three years in advance. It’s a tough spot for me to hold some for you
suddenly.”
Felton said this very seriously, causing Maja to chuckle softly.
“I heard there were cases where customers miscalculated their reservation dates or had issues with
their orders, leading to forced returns. I’m not asking you to give me someone else’s order, but what if
there’s a return? Could you give me that order? I’d pay a high price.”
Hearing this, Felton didn’t hesitate.
“What’s your name?”
“You can call me Penny. That’s what my old teacher used to call me.”
Felton chuckled, “Since you’re his student, I’ll help you out. But stick around and paint me something,
and I’ll contact you first if anyone cancels their order.”
“Then, thank you in advance.”
The painting Felton asked for wasn’t complicated. Someone had already done half of it, but for some
reason, they stopped. Maja struggled to pick it up without understanding the original creator’s ideas.
But her thoughts were as rich as a tide, adding some interactive elements to the otherwise bland
content, making the painting come alive. Three hours had passed by the time she finished. A servant
had brought her coffee during this time.
Felton’s coffee choice was quite exquisite, top-grade Blue Mountain coffee.
Just as Maja was about to take it, a girl’s voice came from outside.
“Dad, wasn’t lan supposed to come today? I’ve been waiting all morning, why hasn’t he arrived yet!”
Maja’s hand froze. She looked towards the source of the voice and saw a very well-dressed girl, about
twenty years old, approaching from outside.
The girl saw Maja, then looked at the painting, and her face showed anger.
“How dare you touch other people’s things? So rude!”
She marched over, intending to snatch the paper.
Felton said. “You’re the rude one. I asked Penny to paint it. This paper has been here for a month. It
was originally a test for you, but you’ve been gallivanting around Greenfield every day and haven’t
even started!”
“I did start! I tried a few times, but you were never satisfied!”
Maja quickly realized that the original content of the painting was a test designed to test the painter’s
imagination
She graduated from the Arcadia School of Modern Art and had previously encountered such topics in
class.
The girl gave Maja a look and snorted, “Show-off. I also got into the Arcadia School of Modern Art, and
my last painting was even exhibited at the school”
Maja glanced at her, she was probably not from Connie Raymond’s class but possibly older.
Felton rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
“Look how she paints. I showed this to your teacher, and she gave it full marks right away.”
“That’s impossible! Our teacher is always stingy with marks, she never gives full marks. Is she a
relative of the teacher?”
Fannie retorted but then heard a sound from outside, and her eyes immediately lit up.
“Dad, lan’s here!”
Felton sighed, hearing Fannie’s coquettish voice from outside.
tan, it’s been so long since you’ve come to see my dad!”
lan was followed by Jeff, who was carrying several gifts, which he handed to a servant
Once inside, lan was surprised to see Maja still there. Business discussions shouldn’t take this long.
Either Felton would refuse outright, or Maja would tell him that lan’s house needed the flooring, and
Felton would agree. Either way, their conversation should have ended quickly.
Fannie had already hooked her arm through lan’s, looking up at him with a smile.
“I’ve been waiting for you all day.”
lan carefully withdrew his arm, and Felton immediately stood up to respond to him
“Long time no see, Mr. Felton.”
Felton looked at lan, slapped him on the shoulder with a smile, and said.
“You’ve been off the radar for threey years.”
It seemed that ever since lan chose to leave the country due to that marriage three years ago, he
hadn’t been here.
Maja couldn’t figure out the relationship between the Raymond family and Felton for a moment. Felton
might know Holden so that lan would know him.
Fannie chimed in.
“If it were me, I’d also choose to leave. Marrying a woman you have no idea about, I really don’t know
what Holden was thinking”
Felton glanced at her, “Don’t talk nonsense about other people’s private affairs, lan, have a seat. Some
of Herbert’s students are here, you can meet them all young and promising”
As the other party in the marriage, Maja felt somewhat neglected at this moment.
