Hunter glanced at his wife in despair and closed his eyes.

He was in immense pain.

Belinda was not angry at Hunter for not looking at her. She walked to the windows again and stared outside.

Her mind wandered off.

If Patrick had been willing to be with her, help her, and marry her back then, her life would have been complete and filled with happiness. Unfortunately, he was only loyal to Tiara.

Even if Tiara had gotten married to someone else, had children, and eventually passed away, Patrick would refuse to follow her and choose to disappear instead.

Caroline said, "Are you okay, Mom?"

She asked about her mother first instead of Hunter's injury.

Belinda said calmly, "It can't get any worse. What's there to not be okay about? You all are adults, and I'm an old woman. I can get over your dad having another woman." Hunter would not be able to touch another woman anyway.

"You haven't eaten anything all day, Mom. Should I send some food over?"

"No."

Belinda rejected the offer at first. However, she changed her minde after some thought. She said, "Get some food for me. Keep it simple. I'm not in the mood to eat now. Just a few sandwiches will do." Content

Caroline replied, "You'll be tired from taking care of Dad in the hospital. How can you eat so little? You'll grow hungry and tired easily."

After a brief silence, Belinda said,

"Your late aunt also ate sandwiches the morning before she passed away. She said having something simple after having all sorts of fancy food hit different."

"Okay. I'll get the sandwiches for you."

Caroline hung up without saying more.

She did not let Belinda wait for long and arrived at the hospital half an hour later.

After knocking on the ward's door, Caroline entered and saw her father in bed with a pale and painful expression. Although she had something to say, she kept quiet in the end. Hunter opened his eyes and looked at his biological daughter.

His gaze was filled with anticipation and some pleading. He hoped she would persuade Belinda to get the doctor to give him painkillers. The pain was excruciating.

dollars daily, he led a lavish lifestyle. All his requests would be satisfied after the butler asked for Belinda's permission.

Belinda glanced at Hunter and told Caroline, "Go sit in the lounge. Your dad needs a quiet rest. He can't eat anything for now. Besides, he won't feel hungry while on the IV drip."
