Chapter 2557
Since Carrie could not reach Mrs. Clark, she called Brenda instead.
When the call connected, Carrie said, "Aunt Brenda, I got my stuff back. Now that I have money, can you help me to rent an apartment unit and live there for now? I'll buy a bigger villa after settling the inheritance dispute with Camryn and getting more money."
Upon hearing that Carrie had gotten her stuff, Brenda asked, "Did you manage to get into the house? Why didn't you stay there? Isn't it better to live in the villa? You'll have to spend more if you rent a place." After a moment of silence, Carrie said, "Let's talk about this when we meet. It's not as simple as you think. My car is out of gas, so I'm going to fill it up first. I'll head to your place after.
"Tell Aunt Amy and my cousins that I'm treating them to lunch. I'm thankful for Edward and Derrick's help. I may be bad-tempered and reckless, but I'm not an ingrate. I remember all the help I've received. "Things are a bit tough for me right now, but I'll treat you all fairly after I claim my family's assets and revive your families. You'll be able to live wealthily again."
Anyone could paint a pretty picture of the future, and that was what Carrie was doing. She thought her net worth could amount to a few hundred million dollars if she won the lawsuit. If so, she would be loaded with so much money that sharing some of it with her aunts' families would not even make a dent. She could even arrange jobs for her cousins.
She was clueless about business. If she could get Newman Enterprise back, she would need someone she was familiar with to manage the company.
Her cousins had always treated her well. Even if it was ingratiation, they had worked in Newman Enterprise for several years and were somewhat experienced.
While her cousins managed the company, she could relax and simply be in charge of splurging money.
Carrie would not be like Camryn, who still managed the company personally despite being blind. Now that Camryn had regained her sight, she was probably busier than before.
Carrie could not tell how much her family's assets were worth exactly. Based on what she heard from Paige, they had more than a hundred million dollars worth of assets.
It could even be a few hundreds of millions.
Otherwise, they could not have afforded such a lavish lifestyle before, though her parents had always preferred a low profile and be subtle about their wealth. Hence, everyone in Wiltspoon thought the Newmans were wealthy but not filthy rich.
In truth, they were among one of the wealthiest families in the city.
To obtain her family's assets, Carrie had to win the lawsuit, of course with the help of her aunts too.
She was unclear about some past incidents, but her aunts would know.
"Okay. We can talk later. I'll continue working. The faster I finish, the earlier I can get off work."
Brenda sensed something had happened. Carrie probably could not solve the issue and needed to discuss it with them. Nevertheless, they were happy that Carrie had money.
At least they could gain something from her.
Carrie was young and ignorant. They thought spending time in prison would transform and restrain her, but her true colors were revealed in just a few days. Old habits died hard, but that made it easier for them to manipulate her as she was naive with no experience in handling turbulence in the harsh world.
As long as they could exploit her, the Newman family's assets would belong to them after she won the lawsuit.
Brenda decided to talk to her husband and children about it in detail later. They could continue currying favor with Carrie as before and cut her off after coaxing the family assets out of her.
Paige and Cain still had decades left to serve in prison. By the time Cain got out, everything would have changed.
