Chapter 2548
"I mean in Wiltspoon. I can get any information I wish and nothing can hide from me. Carrie has nothing to do with me, and I don't even remember what she looks like. She has nothing that interests me." "Alright, alright, I misunderstood you. Please have your tea."
Jasmine picked up the teacup and handed it to her husband and asked him to stop talking.
Josh accepted and took a sip before asking, "Callum, what's the deal with your sister-in-law?"
"She had good conduct time. She got out yesterday and returned to the Newman family's villa. Without the keys, she couldn't enter the house, that's all."
Callum was unhappy about hearing that Carrie was his sister-in-law, but he could not argue about it since she was indeed his sister-in-law.
Regardless of whether the Newman sisters had bad blood or not, it could not change the fact that they were biological siblings.
Camryn calmly said, "They lived in my father's house for over twenty years. Not only was she unkind to me, but she also almost took my life. Carrie is no doubt my sister, but she doesn't treat me like one. You guys also saw how she treated me.
"Ten years ago, when I had just lost my sight, she didn't let me enter the house. She wouldn't let the servants open the door for me. She made me fumble to open the door myself. She'd take away my keys, so I couldn't use them to open the door. I had to grope my way to climb over the gate. She even had someone scatter glass shards on the ground.
"I'm a person with a petty heart. I remember those who treat me well and those who don't. If someone treats me kindly, I'll remember, and I won't let go of the opportunity to repay their kindness. The same goes for those who treat me badly.
"Last night, Carrie brought my two elder cousins and tried to poison the guard dogs I raised. When they couldn't find the dogs, they gave up and tried to climb over the gate. However, they got chased by the dogs hiding in the greenbelt.
"Carrie was bitten by a dog, and the butler had already given her money last night to go to the hospital for a vaccine. Undoubtedly, she's here today to pick a fight with me. It's rare for me to have a weekend off to relax at home, and I don't want her to ruin my mood."
The people in the room were not saints. They understood what Camryn had gone through in the past, so they did not consider her retaliation to be unreasonable.
Serenity said, "That's the house your father left for you, it's yours. You have the final say, no need to bother with her.
"If it were me, I'd throw out all of her belongings, and prohibit her from setting foot in the house."
Serenity was way more assertive than she was before.
Camryn chuckled, "There's no need to rush things."
Jasmine put her thumbs up and laughingly said, "Killing her with a strike from the stick would be too easy on her, we should play around with her, and slowly strip away her arrogance. This is where all the fun resides."
Jasmine had heard stories of Carrie's arrogant behavior.
Serenity and Elisa, on the other hand, had witnessed it first-hand.
Serenity first met Camryn at a banquet. Camryn ordered flowers from Carrie, but Carrie made things difficult for her by asking her sister to drink alcohol to receive payment. Moreover, the drink was spiked with aphrodisiacs.
Camryn was blind at the time. If she really had drunk that glass of wine, things could have ended up badly.
At the time, Serenity had already known that Camryn was the woman Grandma May wanted Callum to marry. Even without that knowledge, given her personality and Elisa's, they would not turn a blind eye and chose to interfere in Carrie's sinister plan.
Carrie might be arrogant, but she only dared to bully the weak. She dared not confront Elisa the "Little Fireball", so she shifted her focus onto Serenity instead.
While Serenity might be a missus of the York family, her own family's reputation did her no favors. Liberty, whom she was closest with, was a divorcee. This led Carrie to believe that Serenity's maiden family had a terrible background. She also believed that Serenity was undeserving of Zachary and that she would eventually be abandoned. In Carrie's eyes, the eldest missus of the York family was just a small fry.
She directed her anger and vengeance toward Serenity.
The outcome was obvious.
