Chapter 2526
Belinda had personally attended Zachary's wedding in Wiltspoon and extended her stay for nearly two weeks. The purpose was clear to Caroline and everyone else.
During this time, Caroline did not dare to send anyone to Wiltspoon to gather information, fearing that Belinda might catch them in the act. Nevertheless, she could guess that her mother would not have a smooth time over there.
Wiltspoon was the territory of the Yorks, Lewises, Buchams, and the Stones. These four major families had formed a united front, making it difficult for her mother to achieve anything significant there. Upon hearing that Caroline was still working late at the company, Belinda's tone softened a bit as she asked, "Celine said that you exposed your brothers' extramarital affairs to their wives. Also, did you freeze Celine's bank account?"
Caroline admitted honestly, "Yes, I did both things. Did I do something wrong?
"My brothers are all married with families. Shouldn't married men be loyal to their families and marriages? Even though my sisters-in-law favor Celine, they treat me, their real sister-in-law, with respect. "But they are all women. I sympathize with them and don't want to see them deceived. The whole world knows their husbands have mistresses, but they don't. Mom, you know too, right?
"I couldn't just keep quiet. I had to let them know that they were being betrayed by their husbands. As for whether they choose to forgive or deny, that's their business."
"Your brothers are just fooling around. Those women on the side can't be taken seriously. They're just entertainment for your brothers, a way to blow off steam, but they won't be brought home. I won't allow your brothers to marry those women.
"It's not easy being a mistress in this family. Caroline, what you did might seem right on paper, but they're your own brothers. By doing this, you've caused cracks in their marriages. Are you happy with this outcome?
“Family matters should not be revealed to the public. You're going to be the head of the Fisher family, and you need to remember this. No matter how serious familial issues get, keep them behind closed doors and resolve them within the family. Don't let these issues become public knowledge, lest they stir up trouble for anyone.
"I won't be back for another couple of days. When you go home later, open my vault and take a few sets of jewelry. Give them to your sisters-in-law to console them. Tell them that I'll handle it as soon as I return. I'll see that your brothers are free from those outside distractions.
"Since they married into our household, no one can deny their status as young mistresses of the Fisher family, unless they voluntarily seek divorce."
Caroline pursed her lips and rolled her eyes, silently judging her mother. How could she be so strict when it came to Hunter's affairs, but so lenient on her sons' infidelities?
Only those who were betrayed understood the grief that came with it.
"Caroline, are you listening?"
Caroline replied, "Got it, Mom. I'll go pick a few sets of jewelry for them once I get home."
"Also, what's going on with you freezing Celine's card?"
Caroline responded, "Did she complain about me again?"
"She said you demanded payment when she accidentally scratched your car. When she expressed the belief that sisters shouldn't be overly particular about finances, you went ahead and froze her bank card. This caused her a huge humiliation when she wasn't able to make payments when she was out shopping. She was crying when she called me, clearly feeling hurt by what you've done."
Caroline nonchalantly uttered, "Seems like the squeaky wheel gets the grease."
"Caroline!"
"I did freeze her bank card and the credit card you gave her. That credit card was meant for company expenses, which meant she was spending company funds. Since I'm responsible for the company, I couldn't allow her to spend the company's money so recklessly," Caroline said, feeling sure of herself.
"She was practically planning to use up Fisher Enterprise's funds to purchase every luxury item in Jensburg. She was clearly trying to acquire assets while preparing for her eventual departure from the household. Many from our family were already displeased with her actions, and I have just done them a favor by freezing her cards."
