Crushed Affections (Dominic and Bella)

Chapter 298

Chapter 298 Perhaps We've Both Had Enough

Bella wiped her tears and said, "It's not that simple. We've had arguments before, but he went too far this time. Besides, I never thought we'd end up together to begin with. Since it's come to this, let's just end this. I've had my dreams, and now that I'm awake, It's time to face reality." Noticing Bella's resolute tone, Lia suggested, "You've lived in Miller Manor for so many years. You should at least say goodbye to Dominic. No matter how heated your arguments were, parting should be done calmly"

Bella set down her fork and picked up her phone.

She lacked the courage to call Dominic directly. The thought of his harsh words made her stomach chum. Opening WhatsApp, she saw Dominic's contact. The name "Honey" felt particularly mocking

It took her half an hour to craft a message.

"I've left. It's really over this time. Whether you believe it or not, I didn't do anything with Felix. Perhaps I was wrong for not considering your feelings, and I apologize for that But since you don't love me anymore, I think you're just angry and not truly upset.

"Putting aside all the unpleasant events, you brought me a lot of happiness. Thank you for the dreams you gave me and for helping me realize that even after loving you for so many years, we're just not meant to be.

"I suddenly miss the past. The simple crush period was actually quite nice without too much conflict. I wish you well in the future."

When Bella sent the messages, she was worried that Dominic might have blocked her. She felt relieved when she saw that her messages were deleted.

She didn't delete Dominic's contact. Real farewells didn't require the delete key. Some people, even when they quietly stayed on the contact list, would never cross paths again. So, there was no need to delete his number.

That night, Bella and Lia lay in bed, both unable to sleep. After a long silence, Lia asked, "Can't sleep?

Bella nodded. Her voice was choked with emotion as she said, "Yeah. I just suddenly thought about how I'll never see the person I want to see the most again, hurts. It feels different this time. He won't come looking for me, and I won't go back. Perhaps we've both had enough."

and it

Lia held her hand. "Dominic hasn't replied, has he? Maybe it's better this way. If he did respond, it would only frustrate you. It's okay. You have a long road ahead, and there will be times when you have to walk alone."

The next day, Bella returned to the hospital for work. She cried too much the night before, so her eyes were puffy. She was reluctant to meet anyone's gaze for fear they could tell that she cried.

She visited her previous patients in the inpatient department but unexpectedly ran into Dominic.

He was dea

there to see Victor

Their eyes met briefly, but he maintained a blankexpression as he entered Victor's ward

Bella swallowed the bittemess she felt and reached into her pocket to grip her phone. He must have seen her messages and was deliberately choosing not to reply. His calm demeanor suggested he had accepted their breakup. That was fine with her. She didn't want to endure painful entanglements anymore.

After her rounds, she was on her way back to her department when she bumped into Felix at the nurses' station.

she casually asked, "How are you feeling? Are you okay now?"

Felix smiled. "I'm fine. Don't worry."

Bella's gaze fell on the scart he was wearing. It was the one she had litted for h

thim.

Felix glanced down at the scarf. "It's nice. You're quite skilled. Want to grab dinner together tonight? My treat."

Not feeling up to going out, Bella politely declined, "I'll need to take a rain check. I'm meeting Lia tonight. By the way, I spent quite a bit of time making that scart so I'm glad you like it. Well, see you around,"

just as she was about to leave, she caught sight of Dominic walking toward her from behind.
