Chapter 6

His words sounded ultimately terrifying but I was ready to put up with anything as long as he was willing to keep me alive. I couldn’t afford to die, at least not now.

I was still on the ground, looking up at the men like tall chunky muscular pillars when one of the guards pulled me up roughly by my arm. Now that I was on my feet, it made no difference at all, I still had to look up to see these men.

The guard left an imprint of his hand on my arm and I didn’t know if I had the time to worry about that now seeing how another pair of much stronger and callused hands were wrapped around my neck and trying to squeeze the life out of me.

I tapped on his hands willing him to stop but his grin only grew wider.

“I thought you said you weren’t going to kill me? Going back on your word so soon?” His fingers tightened around my neck even more and it occurred to me that getting on his nerves wasn’t going to help me in any way.

“I don’t intend to kill you, kira but I’m going to make you regret being mated to Dax.” I got that Dax was his sworn enemy and for good reasons too but I wondered if it was okay to let him know that I already regretted being mated to Dax.

That son of a b****h is the reason I’m having the life slowly squeezed out of me right now at the back of a prison, in the dark and by the world’s most renowned killer!

I wondered where it all went wrong with Dax. Maybe if we hadn’t been outside that night, he wouldn’t have seen that b***h and the guards might have found her instead and sent her on her merry way or maybe if I had handled it myself instead of telling him that I saw figure approaching? Maybe none of this would have happened.

I should have killed that ****h when I had the chance, not that Dax was to spare either. I trusted that man! I trusted him!

Life was slowly slipping out of me with his strong hands still wrapped around my neck and I didn’t know how much more of it I could take before I gave up the fucking ghost! I was sure as hell my face was as red as a tomato now. I knew he enjoyed watching his enemies suffer but if he didn’t stop now, I could really die!

My body crashed against the floor as if he could hear my thoughts but it still felt like his hands were around my neck and I couldn’t breathe.

“Lock her up in the special cell!” he ordered and I was too busy trying to get air back into my lungs to worry about what “special cell” meant but I knew I was about to find out. My mouth was wide open even as the guards dragged me away, trying to gobble up enough air as I could.

I watched the guards helplessly as they led me to a cell different from the dungeon I’d been thrown into before, it would be nice if they would at least let me stay with Ella and Grace but I would be foolish to expect that seeing how I leaped out of the window the first time.

This room was smaller than the dungeon and there was nothing in it except for a rug at the center of the room. One of the guards pushed me inside the cell and I stumbled on the rug and fell with a loud thud. One of them brought a chain and padlock and locked me up in the cell. I struggled against the chains and tried to call out to the guards but the door had already been slammed shut.

I finally understood why the cell was called “special” it was coated with an essence that weakened my wolf as soon as I walked in. I didn’t see why they needed to chain me too, I was already as weak as it got.

There was no window to look out from but I was glad that I was still even alive. I was so scared the fall from the window would harm my child. It was the only thing giving me the will to live. The will to fight whatever crazy plan that I knew the alpha had in store for me.

I was not happy about the s**e I was about to become but the fact that I was alive and so was my child was more than enough to keep me going. I tried to shake myself out of the chains but I knew it was a waste of time. I didn’t know how long I was going to be in here for so I needed as much strength as I could get.

I had no idea when the sun rose or when it set because it was dark as hell in this s**d cell but I knew too well that I had been in here for days! The guards rotating shift every what seemed like twelve hours made me aware of how long I’d been in here and not once since they threw me in here di any of them deem it fit or right to bring me food! Not once.

I was starving almost to the point of death! It was like the d**n alpha derived pleasure from putting me through near death experiences. Is this what he meant when he said that he was going to put me through hell?

What did I really expect of the devil anyway? My bones were so weak, they could break with the force of a four year old. How was my baby supposed to feed if I hadn’t had anything to cat in days?! What kind of a mother was I anyway?

They baby wasn’t even out of my stomach yet and I was already failing as a mother. The gate of the cell clanked open and I looked up eagerly like a starved pet. A maid walked in but her hands were empty, I looked behind her to see if there was someone else, someone with a plate of food to save my f***g life and feed my child! But there was none! When does all of this even end?

“Why are you here then?” I found myself asking since she didn’t look like she wanted to talk about it. The scowl on her face was comical and she had the physique of a body builder. She looked like she could pick me up with one arm and slam me against with wall without having to catch her breath when she tuishes.

She freed me from my shackles and yanked me up roughly. It was when I realized that I couldn’t even stand on legs wobbled like noodles and it felt like the wind had more strength than I did

my own. My

Without wasting any time on trying to get me to walk properly, she threw me over her shoulders like I weighed nothing and carried me out of the cell like a f*** child, I didn’t know where she was taking me but I didn’t bother wasting my strength trying to fight her or trying to free myself because I knew too well it was no use.

We reached a dark corridor and she didn’t stop until we were in an even darker room with a big bath in the middle of it. I wasn’t exactly the shy type but I didn’t take off my clothes in front of other but by the look on her face, I could tell that she wasn’t giving me much of a choice. She wasn’t a woman of many words, she let her eyes do the talking for her and her eyes were definitely telling me to take off my clothes.

I took off my clothes and stepped into the bath, the water felt warm against my skin and I smelled lemons too.

The maid grabbed a cloth and started to wipe my skin tenderly, it put me at ease. She wiped my skin like she was wiping royalty. Getting clean wasn’t going to solve all my problems though, I was still starving and I needed to feed my baby too,

“Can I please get anything to eat?” I asked politely and I wasn’t expecting what came next. She slapped me harshly across the face, the palm of her hand felt like metal and tears of pain streamed down my face. All I did was ask for some food.

“How dare you!” she barked and the sound of her voice echoed through the room and even troubled the water.

“Just because I’m giving you a bath doesn’t make us friends.” She warned but I think I got that part already.

“And you have much more to worry about than food, you probably won’t make it past tonight after your meeting with the alpha. What you should be more concerned with is saying your last prayers.”
