Cheat with my boyfriend best friend by Jane E.L.

Chapter 412

Chapter 412 Aaron Opens Up

Olive's POV

After Colston expressed his support and encouragement, Aaron looked at me more firmly

I figured that I should definitely trust Colston's professionalism, and I should feel confident in Aaron's self-preservation

Therefore, I could no longer say anything against it. I wasn't stubborn. After Colston made it clear that such an approach would help Aaron with his nightmares that had been haunting him for years, I went for it like a gambler sitting at the card table again

The next morning, Aaron and I went to Nick's

apartment

Nick's reaction showed that he meant what he had said on the phone. He quickly shut down the call when he saw me through the video doorbell. No matter how many times I pushed the button, all that answered me was a shrill bell melody

No one was more stubborn than Nick

"Listen, Nick. Running away is not the best solution. You know Aaron, who is always busy at work, and you're the only good friend I have in Berlin. Do you really want me to be home alone with no friends until I give birth?"

I beat the door with my hands, knowing for sure that Nick was there listening to me

And I was right. After a few seconds of silence,

he answered in a muffled voice, "You can ask your assistant to accompany you. I've met her

She's reliable."

"We are talking about you now!" I couldn't help but get a little edgy, and I even wanted to press my face against the door after I interrupted him

"T admit that Charlotte is nice, but we don't have much contact besides work. Besides, do you want to see your boss a lot after work? I don't think so, right? Nick, women need absolutely familiar surroundings and friends during pregnancy. What if something happens to me..."

"Nothing will happen to you! You won't be hurt as long as you stay away from me."

I now realized that Nick seemed to have some post-traumatic stress disorder. He was obsessed with the idea that the last time I was hurt was because of him, so he was trying to avoid me

What was even scarier was that it never occurred to him that David was the root of the cause. He took all the blame on himself!

Aaron, who had been silent, probably sensed my panic. He took my hand and motioned for me to stop pushing Nick, and then he knocked on the door and said in a very calm voice the words I had been pondering about whether I should say to Nick for a long time

"Nick, none of this is your fault. David has been using you to get to Olive, or to put it more precisely, he's been using both of you to get to me. Whether you and Olive are close or not, as long as I'm here, he will not be hesitant to do anything to hurt her. Do you understand?"

After Aaron said so, the whole apartment fell silent

The corridor was so quiet that one could almost hear the wind brushing against the carpet. Just as I was about to start to persuade Nick again, the door suddenly opened, and Nick stood in front of us with obvious tears on his face

"So, David was a liar from the beginning?"

When we finally sat down on the couch in Nick's apartment, he spoke again after a long silence, his voice trembling slightly

He asked so bluntly that I didn't know what to say, and Aaron confirmed his guess directly

"You don't have to be attached to such a pervert at all. Nick, you have to admit that your relationship was wrong from the start. He's more dangerous than you think. The person you thought you were in love with might even have been using you to get to me the whole time."

I didn't think I'd ever forget what happened next

It was the first time I heard Aaron talk about his past. I had heard the general story from Colston, but when I realized I was hearing Aaron himself talk about those nightmares of his, I still couldn't help tucking my fingernails into my palms He was just a teenager back then

There was nothing worse than watching one's loved one expose his wounds and waiting for him to get over it himself

I was glad that Aaron, as he said, was now different from back then. He could handle a lot more. Until Nick finally started cursing at David for being a scumbag, I saw Aaron's chest heaving. He looked relieved

That day, before we left, Nick sorted out a big bag of trash from his apartment and asked Aaron to throw it away for him

The bag was full of memories of him and David, including the necklace with the swapped contents inside the potion bottle

I figured that Nick indeed saw through that man. I was irresistibly pleased by this, but soon, I realized another problem

Aaron started having nightmares all night long
