Chasing The Broken CEO

Chapter 80

"Uncle Frank is way too grumpy and ruthless. He scolded your boyfriend again earlier this morning." Shaira informed me that made my forehead creased. Irritation suddenly rose in my whole being.

I let out a heavy sigh and sat on the couch. I started massaging the side of my head. My father is punishing Evan and I hate it most especially when he's doing it in front of other people. How could he do that? Evan saved our company and this is how he wants to pay him in return?

Shaira also let out a heavy sigh while sitting in her swiveling chair. She looks very elegant in her gray coat with an inner red tube dress. She doesn't really need to put heavy makeups on her face. She's only wearing a red lipstick that complimented her mestiza features. Her hair was put in ponytail that made her more dazzling and presentable. No wonder why Ash got a thing with her.

My mind went back to reality. I can't help but to feel guilty about Evan's current situation here in our company. For the past eight months, he's been trying his best to lift up our company and it is working. Little by little, he managed to fix things up for us and our company is rising all over again. He replaced Shaira and is now the acting CEO of this business. However, despite his title in this company, my father still bosses him around as if Evan works under his authority. Daddy made his life miserable ever since he found out that Evan was the on who invested a huge amount of money in our company. The board members have all voted for Evan to become the CEO and daddy let him take over the title. However, even if he's the CEO of this company, he is still following orders from my heartless father. Every decision he make, he must consult daddy first because it gets finalized. Yeah, he has the highest position but my parents are just too cruel for them to treat him like a robot. I don't understand why they have to go this far... I feel bad for my boyfriend.

"This is not making any sense to me. I mean, daddy doesn't have the right to scold Evan in front of our board of directors!" I hissed through my gritted teeth. My brow furrowed and I can feel the irritation escalating up to my head already. "I understand your sentiment but Evan doesn't fail to amuse me. I mean, he's so persistent and determined. He never complain whenever your dad is throwing some tantrums and even if he's already shaming him in front of the crowd," Shaira said and then smiled at me. "I think he really wants them to accept him as your boyfriend. The fact that he has his own company to manage but still he's prioritizing your company, what could you ask for more? Gosh, you're so lucky, Nathalie!" My heart melted because of what she said. She's totally right. Evan's goal is to get my parents' approval and he's trying his best regardless of the situation. We are both suffering but he's making sure that I won't feel it that much. I can't see or visit him whenever I want to and he's also prohibited to see me. We can only see each other once a month, but we don't get a quality time that much because there are bodyguards tailing me whenever we go out on a date on that very special and once in a while day.

And the same set up happens right now. Every end of month, dad allows me to see him. This is the end of this month however Evan seem to be so busy with his loaded work that's why I am staying here in Shaira's office to wait for him. There are two bodyguards waiting in the outside for me.

"I'm getting really mad at daddy. He doesn't want to stop making Evan's life miserable. Evan doesn't deserve the treatment he's getting from my father. He's done a lot for the company to be saved." I stated in a dismayed tone. I really feel bad towards Evan.

Shaira leaned back to her seat and smiled as she stared at me. "It looks like you really love him so much. You have nothing to worry, my dear cousin, I know that it will end soon. He only needs to endure it until the end. I'm sure that uncle will see that he has a good intention to you."

I let out a huge sigh. The double doors have opened. Shaira's secretary entered the room and then she turned to me.

"Miss Saavedra, your father just went out of Mr. Zendejas' office." she reported.

Oh, finally! I sighed in relief because of what she reported.

"Thanks, Ysa. You can go back to your station." Shaira told her.

Her secretary nodded before going out of the office. I then grabbed my sling bag and also stood up.

"You should go. Don't waste any second, cousin..." she said playfully with a smirk plastered on her lips.

I pursed my lips and just shrugged. "Thanks, Shaira."

I went out of her office. I even warned the bodyguards as I don't want them following me around while I am here in the company. They only nodded. I walked towards the elevator and went inside. I pushed the button for the last floor in the building where Evan's office is located. How is he, anyway? I hope he's just okay... I miss him so much!

The elevator door have opened after a few minutes. I walked towards his office in silence. I inhaled heavily before opening the door.

Evan's office is very wide. Ironically, my father hired people to re-designed the whole office when Evan became the new CEO. The walls were painted in white and brown colors while all the furniture here are like antiques because of its dark brown color.

My eyes were fixated at him. He's sitting on top of his table. His eyes are both on the floor but then he turned to me when he felt my presence.

He looks very stressed and problematic. I can't stop myself from being sad as I see him suffering in this place. I let out a heavy sigh and walked towards him.

Without further ado, I hugged him tight and patted his back. This is the least thing I could do to comfort him after being scolded by my own father. I'd give him all the comfort he needs just to ease what he feels.

"Don't mind my father, Evan..." I uttered and caressed his hair. It just feels good that after all the hectic days, I would be able to hug him like this.

"You're here," he stated and then I felt his arms on my waist. "I missed you, Rish..."

A smile escaped my lips. I patted his head and then kissed him on his cheek. "I missed you too, Zendejas."

He slightly pulled away so he can meet my gaze. He started caressing my cheek and the tucked the strands of my hair behind my ear. My lips parted as I continue to stare at his beautiful face. This small gesture makes me feel so complete and madly in love with him.

I shook my head. "I filed a personal leave for this day. I know you will be mad if I abandon my job just to see you."

That's right. I didn't report to work last month when we went out for a date. The upper management issued me a final written warning because I was scheduled to be a part of two court hearing that day. Evan got seriously mad at me because of what I did. He doesn't really like it when I am abandoning my job because of him.

Well, he could not blame me for doing that as he's more important than my work. That was his fault, anyway. He made me fall in love with him so bad that I no longer care about my work anymore, so long as I would spend a day with him. "Very good. What do you want to do today, baby?" He asked me huskily. The way he stares at me sent million of butterflies in my stomach. I observed his face further. He's still handsome even though he's a little bit stressed recently. "No. I should be the one asking you. What do you want to do today? I will let you decide this time since I was informed you had a bad morning..." I inhaled heavily. "My father scolded you again earlier. I'm really sorry..."

"I'm totally cool with it, Risha. You don't have to worry about me." he said and the stood up that made me look up at him. He's really tall. My face could only level his firm chest. "But since you already asked, I think I know where to go with you."

My forehead creased. "Where?"

He leaned forward and I felt his soft lips on my ear. "Secret..."

Here he goes! I almost rolled my eyes at him. He chuckled and seemed to be getting better now.

I sighed in relief. Oh, my dear Evan...
