Chasing The Broken CEO

Chapter 62

"Were they caught?" I asked hesitantly.

"They were sent in jail, Rish. Everything's back to normal. I assure you that..." he said and then he stood up and went somewhere inside the house.

The truth got me so flustered that I was still spacing out, trying to digest everything I learned. Evan went back with a glass of water on his hand. I pursed my lips. I can't help but to feel ashamed because of how I acted in front of him when I met him here in Bohol. I didn't have any idea...

It felt like the truth has slapped me so hard. I felt the guilt in my whole being knowing that what I've been through was worthless compared to what he'd been through while I was away. Not to add that I became one of his burdens and he felt responsible in saving my life. I realized that I was really a pain in the ass. I'm such a headache and I have to admit that.

I felt his hand on my cheek, wiping my tears away. I swallowed so hard and looked at him carefully. I still can't believe how this arrogant and ruthless man saved me. Clyde was right. He should've let the cops handled it but he dealt with them alone while I was too busy babysitting the demons screwing my mind.

"Please don't think about it. We're done with it," he stated while his eyes were still locked with mine.

I nodded slowly. I understood that he was only trying to make me feel better and it was working. I owe my life with him and I would be forever grateful because he did his best to keep me breathing. The tears on my cheeks were slowly getting dry. I breathed heavily and just let him wiped some of the tears on my cheeks.

He was looking at me as if he was trying to memorize every feature of my face. For a moment, I saw the glimpse of relief in his eyes for some unknown reason. I didn't mind that as I was also busy memorizing every feature on his face. It had been a year yet nothing has changed. He was still the same Evan... cruel and cold yet it was undeniable that he was sinfully handsome.

"If only those bastards didn't mess up with me, maybe we are living a happy life as a married couple now." he commented and then he chuckled.

Yeah right...

I bit my lower lip. I wasn't sure if I can talk about our supposed arrangement knowing that after the unwanted event, my parents held grudges toward his family, like a severe wound that won't get healed easily and would take a lifetime to be treated, and still would leave a scar. All I could do was to sigh in defeat.

Yes, Nathalie. You finally learned about the whole truth. But that's all about it. The only thing I wanted to get from this guy was the explanation and the truth that I needed to know. The supposed partnership and merging were all gone... and the idea of getting married with this man has been gone too.

"Hey..." he uttered when he noticed that the emotion on my face has changed. "What are you thinking?"

"Nothing. I just-"

"Nathalie! Nathalie! Are you there?!" I heard the familiar voice of my grandmother from the outside that made me look at the double doors.

I looked at Evan and heard my grandma's voice again. Both of us stood up immediately and went to the door quickly. Sei and Chandria have also heard her and I just noticed that they were already behind us.

The four of us went out of the house and my heart almost skipped a beat when I saw my grandmother. She was arguing with some of the bodyguards in front of the main gate.

"Grandma!"

I ran towards her and Chandria did the same. All of a sudden, I felt the fear inside my chest, as if I was a child who made a biggest mistake... I can feel the cold eating my entire being now that my grandma's face looked so angry. "What are you guys doing in here? Are you planning to live in with these guys now?" Grandma fired at us upon seeing us.

Chandria and I gazed at each other. All I could do was to close my eyes and pinched the brigde of my nose. I didn't mean to make her angry but I also didn't know why Evan did not send me home!

"Grandma, look we're sorry! We got too wasted last night because of the strong drinks we had in the bar and then we just decided to sleep over. You have nothing to worry about! These men are kind and gentlemen!" Chandria explained and smiled awkwardly.

"What did you say?!" Grandma became more furious.

"Grandma, please calm down!" I told her but she didn't listen and walked toward Evan and Sei. "Grandma, please stop!"

"Good morning, grandma!" Sei greeted her with a smile.

I looked at Chandria and saw how she rolled her eyes outrageously. All I could do was to massaged the side of my head. I gave my grandmother a look. She looked out of control. I swallowed so hard. "Grandma Helga!" I went to her and almost begged her to calm down.

"I apologize for this trouble, grandma." Said Evan in a polite tone. "I'll make sure to send your granddaughter home next time."

"What the! You "

My jaw literally fell on the ground when my grandmother started hitting Evan's legs using her cane. She also did the same with Sei. The two men didn't mind every hit as if those weren't painful but my goodness! My grandmother totally went berserk!

Chandria and I panicked and tried to stop her from hitting them.

"Grandma, oh my goodness! Please, stop it!" I said and grabbed the cane from her. "Chandria and I are the ones who are at fault here. You should hit us instead. Not them!"

"Holy, cow! Nathalie!" Chandria stepped back and looked very afraid of my grandma. "I'm wearing a shorts for Christ's sake! I don't want to get hurt! Grandma can hit you! You're wearing a pajama!" What the hell, Chandria?

"You're both giving me a headache!" Grandma yelled at us.

I felt like I'm going to pee in my pajamas as I have never seen my grandmother act this way. I was also wondering how did grandma knew that we're here? Who told her that Evan's place is just around the area? I shook my head. I shouldn't be asking that questions now that she already went berserk!

My grandmother eyed me maliciously. I bit my lower lip as I looked away. Chandria seemed to be so scared that she hid herself behind me. When I looked at grandma, she was already staring at Evan and Sei angrily.

"You two!" She almost yelled at them. "Both of you should come with us at home! I won't let this pass without having a word with you all!"

My eyes widened in disbelief. I glanced at Evan and he just did the same on me. I didn't understand why he managed to stay calm while here I am, almost want to faint because of my furious grandmother! "Come on, grandma Helga!" Chandria hissed at her.

"Grandma, please!" I begged.

"You girls, should stop talking now!" she snorted with grumpiness and then she walked away.

I gasped as I watched her going out of the main gate with some of her bodyguards. I pinched the bridge of my nose. I could feel the throbbing pain in my head.

"Let's follow your grandmother," I felt Evan's arm around my waist. "Don't worry, I'll explain everything."

I sighed in defeat and just nodded at him slowly. I guess we have no other choice but to face the wrath of my grandmother.

This is insane, Nathalie.
