Chasing The Broken CEO

Chapter 10

"See? I know you just want to make your parents happy. You mentioned before that they have plans for you and this must be your fate. We both know how much they want this arranged marriage to push through and they would be really disappointed if Evan would refuse just because you love your pride that much," Chandria stated like she's discussing the whole truth.

I gulped.

"So, are you saying that I have to make a fast move on him? Would it not make me look like a desperate woman if I'd do that?" I carefully asked.

She smirked at me and then crossed her arms against her chest.

"Nathalie, you are not the one who's desperate here. You're not that type of person. The ones desperate would be your parents. You have to keep that in your mind," she said meaningfully.

My forehead creased. Chandria is giving me so many headaches because of her foul mouth!

She's right, though. I am not that desperate.

My parents are.

I felt so relieved after the conversation I had with Chandria. As I drove my way back to our house, I could not help but to have some thoughts about her advices.

She is totally right. I should not waste my time spoiling my well built pride. I need to do something so that I could fix whatever has left broken between me and Evan because of that goddamn fight. That is the least thing I could do so that even without love, our future marriage with still last.

I held the steering wheel tightly as I tried to think of a plan that would benefit me. I was consumed by the thoughts of chasing Evan Zendejas discreetly and making him chase me desperately, when I accidentally bumped into the car in front of

me.

I screamed as I felt my entire body has frozen up. My lips ran dry just when I realized what happened. I caused a car accident! My hands were shaking aggressively as I looked at the front of my car and the back part of the car in front of me collided forcedly. The smokes that came from both broken machines have scared me to death.

Holly cow! What did I do?! I wasn't paying attention! Shit!

The driver of the car I bumped into went out with his face fuming mad. My heart pounded aggressively as I watched him walked his way towards the side of my car, where I was seated.

My hands were still shaking because of nervousness. My heart almost jumped out of my lungs when the man knocked on my car's window.

"What the fuck? Come out, here! Come out!" he yelled as he kept knocking on my window, freaking mad about what happened.

What should I do? I am so scared that getting out of this car will be the death of me! What if this guy beats me up?

People has started gathering around us because the guy kept on yelling in the middle of this road. I swallowed the big lump of my throat as I tried to think what to do to get this accident resolved. I'm doomed!

What should I do? Shit, Nathalie!

My parents would definitely kill me if I call and tell them what happened and make them come here to save my ass! I shook my head as my body is still freezing badly.

I am just damn scared of their possible reaction! I don't want to be scolded!

I grabbed my phone and looked for the calling card inside my wallet. Without a further ado, I dialled out Evan's phone number immediately, hoping that he would answer my call and save me from this mess I made. "Please, answer my call..." I pleaded, still panicking.

My heart is still pounding so fast as the guy outside continued to yell and knock on my window with all his strength.

I am on the verge of crying when he finally answered the call.

"Hello?" A baritone spoke on the other line.

I gasped for some air.

"E-Evan... This is... N-Nathalie..." I stuttered. I can't even speak properly as I felt the chills running in my whole body. "I... I n-need help..." then I started crying. "P-Please..." "What's going, Risha?" he asked, his tone is still cold but curious.

"I... I was d-driving a-and then I bumped i-into someone's car. It... It happened all that fast... P-Please help me..." I tried to explain and ended up crying a river while inside my car just when some policemen showed up to check the commotion I made.

I heard his ragged breathing on the other line.

"Where are you, exactly?" his tone sounded so aggressive.

I told him the exact location of this road. He inhaled sharply that made me feel so guilty that I have to drag him in this mess. I felt like calling him was a big mistake but I have no other choice. My parents would kill me if they learn about this! Evan can just kill me after cleaning this mess, I guess!

"Stay inside your car. I will be there in fifteen minutes," he said with full authority.

"Evan, the owner of the car I bumped into is fuming mad... I am scared..." I said, still crying. "He's trying to break my car's window... He's forcing me to get out... There are policemen approaching us too..."

"Damn it!" I heard him curse. "Just stay inside your car. I'm going to fix it. I'm on my way." "A-Alright..."

He ended the call. Probably he's really on his way to save me.

"Didn't you hear me? Are you deaf? I said get the hell out!" the guy from the outside is still not done shouting and knowing on my window.

A policeman talked to him and tried to calm him a bit. Then, another policeman went to the side of my car and knocked the window gently. I am totally in fear when he asked me to get out and show myself to them for an interrogation. I shook my head leaned in the steering wheel. I am crying endlessly because I felt so weak and scared.

I waited patiently while tears were falling like a river. After what it feels like forever, the knocks on my car's window have finally stopped. I looked up and saw Evan who is already talking to the policemen and the guy who owned the car I messed up with.

I sighed in relief. I bit my lower lip as I watched him trying to sort things out for me. He remained so calm and professional even when the owner of the car is throwing a fit.

After a few minutes, Evan walked towards my car and knock on the window once. I wiped my tears away and pushed a button so that the window will open, and so he could talk to me properly.

I am still crying when he looked at me intensely.

"We will fix this mess but we should come with them at the police station," he said in his most calm voice.

His statement made me feel uneasy. I shook my head.

"I do not want to be put in jail..." my voice cracked.

"Of course, Risha. I won't let it happen, alright? Trust me on this matter. Now, you may get out," he said and then he stood up in front of the car's door and waited for me to come out.

I am really hesitant to get out knowing there are three policemen waiting for me...

"Risha Nathalie Saavedra, you have nothing to worry about. I won't let you get jailed, I promise. You have my word." He assured me.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and just opened the car's door slowly, holding onto his promise that he would help me clear this mess, and that I would not be put in jail for what happened.

I never felt so scared in my entire life. I bit my tongue when I looked at the owner of the car. He looked back at me with a freaking anger on his face. I breathed in heavily.

I felt Evan's hand on my back. I glanced up at him. He seems annoyed but he's still helping me.

"Is everything going to be alright?" I asked.

Never did I wish to be in this kind of trouble and never did I imagine that he'd be the one who will help me in times like this.

Should I really trust Evan Zendejas?

"It has to. I will come with you," he said that made me feel a bit at ease.
