Chapter 13 Howard lay in bed , quiet and still .

Years had gone by , and he still looked much the same , as if he were simply in the middle of a long , deep sleep .

There was a dull thud , and his head immediately began to bleed .

He yelped in pain , clutching his forehead as blood smeared across his head , face , and hands .
