Chapter Regret 8
BOOK1 Chapter8
She accused me of hiring men to attack her, sobbing dramatically. "Sophia, if you hated me so much, you could have just told me to leave! Why would you do this to
me?"
Her words sealed my fate. Ryan didn't hesitate. He locked me in the basement.
Only after my death did I learn the truth. Linda had orchestrated everything. Her disappearance, the assault, it was all a carefully planned act. She had wanted me gone for years, and she finally saw her chance to take my place, to become Mrs. Walker. Two weeks after I disappeared, Ryan erased every trace of me from the mansion. Linda took over my sunny bedroom. The security guards he had sent to find me were recalled.
He sneered. "Don't mention that woman's name again. Consider her dead."
He spent his days helping Linda choose a wedding dress. Over a hundred dresses, and Ryan, who hated waiting, patiently watched her try on each one. But sometimes, het would stare off into space, a flicker of something unreadable in his eyes. Two days later, Ethan returned.
"Ryan, where is my sister?" His voice was low and dangerous. "I've used every connection I have. There's no record of Sophia leaving this city. She's still here, in this house!"

Michael." Ethan commanded.
Michael glanced nervously at Linda, his body trembling. "It was... it was Miss Linda! I saw her that night. She took Mrs. Walker... She took her to the backyard and... and buried her!"
Michael couldn't take it anymore. Linda had made his life a living hell, constantly finding ways to torment him. He had reached his breaking point. He knew Ethan. would treat him fairly. I had told him once, "If you're unhappy here, you can come work for my brother. He's a good man, Michael. He treats everyone with respect."
Michael's words hung in the air. Linda threw her wedding dress to the ground and screamed.
"Liar! You're lying! You old fool! Why are you making this up? I have no reason to harm Sophia! It was Ryan who locked her in the basement! It has nothing to do with me!"
Michael had nothing left to lose. He sneered.
"Nothing to do with you? Don't play dumb, Miss Linda. You've been living in this house for years, treating Mrs. Walker like dirt. She was too kind to fight back, but don't think we didn't notice your little games."
"Michael!" Ryan's voice was cold. "You better be able to back up your accusations."
Michael dropped to his knees, desperate to reach the Ryan he once knew, the man before Linda's poison had taken hold.
"Sir, I know where Miss Linda buried Mrs. Walker. If you don't believe me, come with me. You'll see."
Ryan nodded slowly.
