Boomerang Love (Naomi and Brendan)

Chapter 177

Chapter 177

After Naomi finished playing the recordings, her eyes became moist with tears.

She didn't expect to encounter such disturbing occurrences in a society that upheld law and order, nor did she anticipate uncovering such twisted ideology in a seemingly ordinary town.

"Your Honor, I have finished presenting the testimonies."

"The defense shall make your concluding statement," the judge said.

"Your Honor, based on the testimonies we just heard, I trust that everyone now understands the defendant's upbringing and the circumstances that led to him fleeing the Danson family. It's evident that he was

"No, Your Honor."

"Charles Danson, do you have anything to say?"

Charles lifted his head and looked at Naomi before turning to the judge.

Next, Charles turned to Naomi and said, "Ms. Goodwin, I can't thank you enough! Thank you for your

encouragement and respect.

"Apart from my mother, you are the only person in this world who has shown me kindness. I'll always remember you."

Tears welled up in Charles' eyes as he spoke his final words. Despite his efforts, tears started streaming

down his cheeks as he managed a faint smile at Naomi.

Perhaps Charles was destined to live a short life. He could never experience the life that Naomi spoke of or taste delicious food again.

Naomi's eyes glistened with tears upon hearing Charles' heartfelt words.

At that moment, the judge and jurors concluded their deliberation and prepared to deliver their verdict.

"In accordance with Article 232 of the Criminal Law, Charles Danson is found guilty of intentional homicide and is sentenced to death, with a two-year reprieve." Chapter 177

After delivering the verdict, the judge turned to Charles and continued, "Don't give up hope, Charles."

Tears rolled down Naomi's cheeks when she heard the verdict. Though Charles was given a death sentence, it wasn't an immediate execution.

It was an unusual decision for a case of intentional homicide, but Charles' voluntary confession, sincere remorse, and troubled background had influenced the court's ruling.

Charles' past experiences had left deep emotional scars and impacted his mental health. He could only start to articulate his thoughts clearly after conversing with Naomi a few times.

At the first trial, Charles explained that he didn't intend to kill anyone when he returned home. In fact, he was feeling fearful.

However, when his father and uncles provoked him, Charles went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. He hadn't brought one with him.

By the time Naomi calmed herself down, the staff had already approached Charles. As Charles was about to be taken away, he turned to her and said, "Don't be upset, Ms. Goodwin. Thank you so much." Charles didn't know what was happening to him or what the future held for him.

Naomi nodded vigorously at Charles and said, "Yes! I'm not upset."

When the jurors left, Jason and the rest walked up to Naomi.

"Thank you for your efforts, Naomi."

Michael patted Naomi's shoulder and praised, "You did well."

He felt honored to have a lawyer who showed such dedication and trust for the client. Naomi's commitment and selflessness were qualities not every lawyer possessed.

Naomi lifted her head to face Michael. "Thank you to Mr. Symth and everyone for your help and guidance during this period."

When Naomi finished speaking, another figure emerged from the crowd. She looked up and was surprised to see the man. She hadn't expected him to be present at the trial today.
