Blood of Immortals

Chapter 3

There has been an ongoing heated discussion between Alaric and his mother. It has been two hours since I was asked to wait outside the room. I am about to die of hunger, but I haven’t heard anything yet. One thing’s for sure. My initial assumption is correct - the conference room is soundproof. Even my wolf senses couldn’t penetrate these thick walls!

Anyway, this time, I am on Alaric’s side. Just imagining myself calling him teacher or master made me want to vomit. Though I am an omega, I didn’t directly serve anybody. I was just tasked to clean, cook and do some menial work. Never did I have to do the direct biddings of the Alpha or the Luna.

If Alaric accepted this, I couldn’t imagine how my life would be. It must be restrictive. And boring.

I heard he studied ancient texts from the heavenly realm. Would I also have to do the same? If I am good at anything, it’s definitely not reading. How I wish, Alpha Angus is here! Though he was the cause of all the scars on my back, he would never ask me to study. I was saved today from the lashes because he was outside the pack territory and Luna Stella was present when the incident happened. If he was here, I would bet that the twenty lashes that Alaric demanded would not satisfy the Alpha.

As for why Alpha Angus was gone, I heard that he was asked to go to the demon realm to receive the order from the royal palace. It had already been two months. He must be on his way back by now.

Suddenly, the door of the conference room opened.

“Come to my office tomorrow morning at 7 am,” Alaric said without looking at me. I tried to look for someone else he might be talking to. There’s none.

“Me?” I asked, hoping he was just talking to himself. Or to the moon. Except me.

“Who else?” he answered, now directly looking at me. “Don’t be late.” Then he left.

I sighed. This must be my karma. My stomach growled. It must be angry. I am supposed to have my dinner thirty minutes ago. Sorry tummy. Mummy will feed you now. I decided to fill my stomach to relieve my hunger and frustration. I was about to go to the kitchen when I heard someone shouting.

“Everyone! Alpha Angus has arrived,” said one of the warriors. “He wants us to gather at the podium.”

So much for having my dinner!

I went to the podium together with the other wolves. I stared at Alpha Angus who was looking agitated at the center of the platform.

“Everyone, I would like to share with you the news I received from the seer of the Royal Palace of Wolves.” Alpha Angus started. “It’s about the prophecy foretold by the three fates more than two decades ago.”

Everyone was quiet and seemed interested. I am betting though, that they just wanted to get over this so they can have their dinner and go to bed. Just like me.

“The three fates told that destined demon was born on the first blood moon that happened twenty-one years ago.” He continued. “This destined demon is fated to marry the descendant of the queen of the wolves. Their marriage would unite the three realms and protect the peace for all creatures. They are destined to be the rulers of all realms.”

Alpha Angus, then suddenly looked into the crowd as if searching for something, or someone.

“Alaric, come here.” Though seemed confused, Alaric went to the platform.

“I am proud to say that the destined demon has been found. Twenty-one years ago, Alaric, son, you were born on the day when the first blood moon appeared.”
