Chapter CHAPTER 120
120 The Unbridgeable Divide
“Are you serious, Lillian? You think you can just waltz back and demand a share of everything?” Alex’s voice was cold, his patience wearing thin.
Lillian, her face pale with fear, retorted, “Alex, you can’t do this to me! I’m part of this family too. You can’t just send me away!”
Alex’s laugh was devoid of any warmth. “Family? You’ve done nothing but cause trouble. You really think you’re entitled to the wealth I built from scratch?”
Lillian’s desperation was evident. “But I’m your sister! You can’t just abandon me.”
Alex, unmoved, responded sharply, “You made your choices, Lillian. It’s time you faced the
consequences.”
Leaving the hospital room, Alex’s mind was heavy. He needed to confront Emma and resolve their past once and for all.
In the garden, Emma and Gable were in deep conversation. Alex approached, his heart racing.
“Gable, Emma, I need to speak with you,” Alex interjected.
Gable turned, his eyes cold. “What do you want, Alex?”
Alex hesitated, then said, “I didn’t know… about Dad saving Emma. I thought…”
Emma cut him off, “Alex, the past is the past. We have nothing left to discuss.”
“But I need to understand, to apologize,” Alex pleaded.
Gable stepped forward, anger in his eyes. “You’re too late, Alex. You had your chance.”
Emma turned away, her decision final. “It’s over, Alex. There’s nothing left to say.”
Alex stood there, watching Emma walk away, the realization sinking in that his actions had cost him everything. The woman he once loved was now a stranger, and all he was left with was regret and the cold truth of his own mistakes.
