Billionaire's Betrayal: My Ex Beg Me To Love Him Again

Chapter 0011

Chapter 0011

Caroline's POV:

Watching William storm over like a raging bull and grab Martin startled me to my core, for the look of rage William was giving Martin in that moment was deathly.

Martin, however, just sent William a look of indignance. He hardly seemed intimidated. The tension was thick, but there was a clear air of familiarity between them. Did they know each other?

"Get your hand off of me," William snapped, wrenching his wrist away. Despite his warm demeanor and charming features, it was clear he wasn't helpless against a threat. The two men fixed each other with hard gazes, neither saying a word.

I swallowed my anxiety and tried to maneuver my way in between them. "Maybe we should go back inside! Cake will be served soon right?"

William shot me an angered look, ignoring my attempts to alleviate tension. "Is this à friend of yours?" There wasn't a trace of warmth to be seen in his gaze. His eyes ran over the suit jacket set on my shoulders. "Isn't this a little inappropriate for my mother's. birthday party? I thought you had more dignity than that, Caroline."

"My clothes were stained," I reasoned to him. "Martin lent me his coat to help cover me up. Isn't it important for your wife to be properly dressed for a banquet?"

Martin swiftly came to my defense. "She's right. Don't tell me you can't handle someone else taking care of your wife for you." His tone was laced with sarcasm, as he was clearly unhappy with the way William was treating me

William glared at Martin, realizing that he was the same man who had carried me into the car that day.

"It's you!" William grabbed Martin by the collar, growling out a stern threat. "Clearly I'm going to have to teach you a lesson, Martin. Hasn't anyone told you that you shouldn't covet other people's wives? Do you really think I won't beat you here and now?" Martin wasn't shaken by the grasp on his collar. In fact, he even smiled, though his tone grew harsher. "I was trying to help a woman in need."

"Ah yes, her knight in shining armor," William scoffed, his voice thick with sarcasm.. "Well, I was there when she needed someone the most," Martin replied. His eyes gave William a once-over before his lip curled in contempt. "And where were you? If you're such a good husband, where were you when your wife fainted by the side of the road? Would you rather leave your wife in danger than allow others to save her?"

William looked stunned, but it was a fair question. He was still my husband, after all, and yet he hadn't been there for me when I needed him the most. He was clearly reluctant to

speak about it, though, especially after the conflict we'd had. "Where I was is none of your business," he snapped, his attempt at being can falling flat on its face.

Martin openly sneered at William's inadequate response. "Yeah? When it comes to Caroline's safety, I think it is my business."

Tension bristled between the two men before William snatched the coat off of me and threw it to the ground with a sneer and a defiant look. Martin looked indifferent, save for a lingering concern for my own safety. William forcefully took my hand, yanking me away from Martin's side. "You'd do well to stay away from my wife."

Without another word, William dragged me back into the villa with an uncompromising grip. I longly looked back at Martin, who watched on with concern as I was taken away. Despite the situation, I was filled with warmth at the knowledge that someone at least cared about me.

in my William ushered me into a private room, where he cast a stern gaze

direction. "How do you know that guy?" he demanded, his voice hushed and yet tense with anger.

"I already told you. He's saved me off of the street after I collapsed," I told him, my voice, shaking in its confidence as I felt the full weight of his heavy gaze. "He isn't anything outside of that."

The disbelief was more than evident on William's visage. Just this conversation alone seemed to have his blood boiling, but somehow it felt more than just possessiveness and jealousy. He seemed to have an inexplicable animosity towards Martin.

"Even though we're getting divorced, that doesn't mean you can just go out and find a new boyfriend," he warned. "Especially Martin! That pest has been a nuisance since we were kids!"

"I didn't know that!" I shot back. "He's just a friend to me and that's all!"

William's cold stare lingered with suspicion. "think you need a reminder that we're still married, Caroline," he said with a warning in his voice. "I don't want to see you around him again. This... promiscuous behavior you're exhibiting right now is only going to bring shame to my family, so cut it out!"

Promiscuous? Did William think I was cheating? It hurt that he thought so low of me. We had been together for two years, and never had I looked at another man the way I looked at William.

'Not everyone has a taste for cheating, William," I shot back with defiance. "Don't you dare slander Martin and I!"

Condescension made itself present in William's tone. "You don't have a right to cast blame around," he hissed, speaking as though I were just as guilty as he was. "If it wasn't for your father's lies, I wouldn't even be married to you right now."

Shock slammed into me at his words. What did he mean about my father? Did this mean he never loved me? "What are you talking about, William?" I inquired with exasperation. Why do you hate my father so much?"

Rage tensed my husband's frame. Just before he could reply, a knock at the door interrupted our hushed argument

"Mr. William, you're needed in the lounge!" Came the hurried voice of one of the Andersons' assistants. In the distance, I could hear a baby wailing "George is crying! No one can calm him down!" +25 BOWS
