Betrayed Luna's Fated Mate

Chapter 28: Ready To Kill

-Brendon-

"Maybe I should drive," Jason suggested as I took another corner at full speed.

"No, it's perfectly fine," I growled lowly, my voice almost like an animal's.

"You know I want to kill the fucker too. I have for a long time, but I would like not to die in a car crash because you and my sister had a fight," he groaned. "Oh, we made up," I reassured him.

"But if you made up, then why are you so pissed? And why are we breaking so many speed limits when we should already be in jail?"

"Because she told me she went to see Zack today."

"Yes, we already figured that one out."

"Yes, and then Zack took that as if she had come asking him to be her mate instead of me," I snarled.

"What? Why?"

"Because I'm not a fucking alpha."

"You know she doesn't care about that, right? Neither do I. Neither do our parents. You're perfect for each other," he reminded me.

"Yes, I'm aware, and she made that clear as well, but that didn't stop the fucker from trying to force himself on her!" I growled. "WHAT?" Jason shouted.

"Oh yeah, this time I am certain, because Celeste said she had to push him off!" I informed him and turned to look at Jason, who pulled out his gun, clicking off the safety and cocking it.

"Okay, press on the fucking speeder."

I smiled, picking up the pace and racing toward where Zack's territory was. The border control tried to stop me, but I raced past them and up to the house, doing a sharp break that turned the car almost onto its side. Then both Jason and I stormed out of the car, the rest slowly coming to a halt as well.

"You do know your father is going to kill us all for this, right?" Tim chuckled as he grabbed two of his knives, looking so fucking excited for this.

"He will forgive us," Jason snarled before storming up to the front door and knocking violently on it.

"Break it!" I told him.

"No, the warriors are coming," he said, and he pointed behind us as male wolves were running toward us, ready to defend their home.

Jason was remembering to keep his cool as best as he could so we didn't start a full-on war. But his angry voice as he yelled was a clear indication of how truly angry he was, "Zack, you motherfucker, come out here and face us!"

I smiled, feeling my blood pumping with adrenaline as a delightful feeling spread through me. Finally, I had a reason to rip him apart. He never made a pass at Celeste before knowing who guarded her, but this time he couldn't escape retribution. Yet, it wasn't Zack who opened the door, it was his father, while his warriors surrounded us on all sides.

"Where is he?" Jason growled.

"Not home," the alpha replied.

"Bullshit."

"No, he went out with his girlfriend and his friends," the alpha told us.

"Where?"

"How about you tell me why you have come to kill my son first? Then we can see if I want to tell you."

"He touched my sister without her consent, and you see, my sister is already mated," Jason reminded the alpha, then gestured to me."

"I see," the alpha replied calmly.

"Now, where is he?"

"You do know coming here without an invitation also gives me the right to challenge you, right, Alpha Jason?"

"Go for it," he snarled, and the rest of us chuckled a little. Jason was fucking fierce. I was the only one who had been able to beat him once or twice, but his alpha strength was incredible. He was not one to mess with, and while the older alpha might be wiser, I knew Jason could take him.

"How about you return home, and we can solve this like actual civilized alphas? We aren't living like animals anymore."

"What do you suggest?" Jason asked.

"A meeting between all of us," the older alpha suggested.

"When?"

"Tomorrow. You can even bring your sister. If there is a problem between our territories, then let's solve it," he said.

Jason seemed to think it over, doing a much better job than me to stay calm, and I growled angrily, making both alphas turn to me.

"I have every right to beat the shit out of your son," I snarled.

"Really? Did anyone see Zack doing anything inappropriate?" his father asked, and I took a step forward, but the smirk on the old alpha's lips told me that despite the old law saying I could hunt his son for touching my mate, it would most likely bring me into trouble. This was a he said, she said situation, and if Zack claimed he made no passing, then I could end up behind bars for killing him.

"It's a different time, Warrior Brendon. Don't forget that," he told me, subtly making it clear that if I tried to hurt Zack, then he would hurt me.

Kill him too! my wolf demanded.

I knew I couldn't, and so I stayed in place, crossing my arms. The old alpha smiled, turning to Jason, but I could see how angry Jason was too, his knuckles white from clenching his hands so much. "Tomorrow," the old alpha repeated.

"Tomorrow," Jason confirmed.

"Shit," I whispered as the old alpha waved to his warriors, telling them to go again before he closed the door and left us out there, feeling like we were the ones getting ass fucked.

"Well, that went well," Jason sighed. "But he is not wrong."

"I want to kill them both now. He told Celeste as well, I wasn't good enough for her."

"And it makes him a dick, but it's not enough to kill him without consequences."

"Then maybe it's time we found a reason."

"What do you mean?"

I sighed, running a hand through my hand, unsure if I should tell him what was going on with his sister and what we had learned. I still found it hard to believe, but maybe it was better that her brother knew as well, so I had more help. "Celeste... Celeste believes she is something called a traveler," I revealed.

"What the fuck is a traveler?"

"Yeah, it's going to be a hard one to swallow."
