Chapter 26: Only His
-Celeste-
I sighed deeply, unbuckling my seatbelt after parking the car, but I didn't get out right away. Instead, I leaned my head back and gazed at the ceiling of the car. I felt exhausted. My brain felt as if someone had reached into my head, spun it around a few times, and then put it back into place. My body even ached a little, and every move seemed to cost me energy.
I told you not to go there! my wolf scolded me.
"But I remember so much now!"
And at what cost?
I didn't want to argue anymore. I was too tired, and I had been gone for quite a long time. The sun was low in the sky, and I knew it wouldn't be long before dinner was served. However, I remained in my car to remain in a peaceful bubble, but the bubble quickly burst when I saw Brendon storming out of the house, with my brother and the squad, as Zack called it, following along. I sighed.
"And here we go," I whispered.
Brendon ripped open the door and looked at me with an angry expression.
"Where the hell have you been?"
"Driving," I replied with an attitude that shocked even me, but I was so tired and a bit pissed from everything with Zack and his father.
"Driving?" Brendon echoed.
"Yes, I can drive. Obviously."
"Celeste, get out now and tell me where you have been."
"Must I report everything back to you?" I asked and slipped out of the car, but the moment I tried putting all my weight on my feet, my knees broke a little, and I almost fell. Brendon caught me, holding me to him. "Hey, what's going on with you?" he asked.
"Are you all right?" My brother came closer, wanting to check on me as well.
"I'm fine," I reassured them before I began gazing at them all. "Tell me something."
Brendon continued to hold me as I looked between him and my brother and even ran my eyes over the rest of their close friends.
"You wouldn't have been beating people up when they tried getting a little close to me, would you? And when I say people, I mean guys who wanted to sleep with me?" I questioned, seeing them all avoid my sharp gaze as they suddenly found other things that were so interesting.
"Unbelievable!" I shouted before shoving away from Brendon, who tried to grab me again, but I pushed his hands away. "Is this why I was never asked on a date?" "Um..." Jason stammered.
"You actually beat people up?"
"We were just looking out for you," Brendon tried.
"No, you were controlling my choices, and you were claiming me before you could!"
"I couldn't help it."
"Yes, you could have, by not beating people up! You are all so..." I couldn't even come up with a word to describe them because I was so angry.
I walked away from the group, wanting a shower and to just rest before dinner, because right now I couldn't handle their possessive and dominant ways.
-Brendon-
I had gone to look for Celeste later in the day, wanting to talk to her about Jason and me going out to do a little investigation on Zack, but I couldn't find her. Then someone told me her car suddenly drove up to the house, and I wanted to know what she had been doing. Instead, it completely backfired, and now she was pissed at all of us for keeping an eye on her.
I knew I had been a possessive fucker behind her back, and her brother had relished having a reason to beat up those who came a little too close to his little sister. It was an alpha-and-warrior thing, but now we were paying the price. I could feel the bond being hot and untouchable because of how angry Celeste was, and I knew it was going to take some serious coaxing to make the flames go away.
"Where do you think she learned it?" Jason asked, turning to me, and we all formed a smaller circle.
"I don't know," I replied. "Anyone could have told her."
"Yes, but this is the first time she has asked us about it," Jason pointed out. "Which means she couldn't have been told before."
"Hmm..."
I suddenly noticed a very faint smell hanging on my body, something I hadn't taken notice of because I had been too angry. I lifted my shirt a little, and Jason noticed. "What?" he asked.
"I smell something."
"What?"
"Something that makes me want to go hunting again."
"Zack?" he asked, knowing exactly what I was talking about.
I poked my head into the car, and the smell was even stronger there. I slammed the car door shut.
"Yes, fucking Zack," I snarled.
"Then let's go,” Jason suggested, wanting to go hunting now too.
"Wait for me for a moment, I have some questions for my mate."
Jason smiled, probably thinking Celeste deserved whatever was coming for her after going to see that weasel. Don't get me wrong, Jason beat the crap out of me as well when I confessed I wanted his sister and that she belonged to me, but I had proven my worth by fighting back, and we had ended up laughing about it instead, and he had given me his blessing. Zack could never fucking get that same blessing. He would never fight for Celeste, so why did she smell like him? I walked inside the house and followed the calling of my mate back to our bedroom. I heard the water running and stormed into the bathroom, where she stood under the warm water, showering. Only a thin glass door protected her, but she could see me through it.
"Brendon, what the fuck?" she asked, covering her breasts, though I already knew the taste, shape, and feeling of them. I knew every little inch of her, but only I should know those parts of her. I didn't want that fucker to know her beauty too. I ripped open the glass door and pulled Celeste out. She had no grip because of her wet skin, and she was easy to handle.
"Brendon! What the hell are you doing?" she asked as I brought her back into the bedroom and threw her over the side of the bed. "I am making the sheets wet."
"Wouldn't be the first time you drenched the bedding," I taunted.
"Oh, you are just "
I cut her by landing a well-placed spank right on her ass.
"Ouch, that actually hurt!" she snarled, turning her body to protect her ass, and I let her turn so she faced me.
"Good, then you might remember this."
"Remember what?"
I reached out, grabbing her by the throat and pressing her into the bed, but Celeste knew I would never actually hurt her. This position only brought heated memories to her mind because she opened her legs to me and began panting for me. "Brendon," she whispered, eyeing my lips.
"Why can I smell Zack on my shirt and in your car?" I growled, seeing her eyes grow big.
