Chapter 24: Not Wanting Someone Else
-Celeste-
The audacity this alpha had. I was shocked that I could ever have lived a life with him, but as he touched me, it brought back a lot of memories that went through my head so fast that it made me groan in pain. Zack didn't even take notice of what was happening to me. Instead, he leaned closer, pressing his lips against my neck. He tried to go for my lips, but I turned my head away, and he caught my neck instead, giving me goosebumps, but it also triggered more memories. "Zack!" I chuckle, his weight on top of me and his hands roaming over my body, making me feel so warm.
"God, I love you so much," he whispers in my ear.
"I love you too," I reply.
He kisses my neck, moving down my body and making me feel so good.
I was so confused by the old memories and the sensations he was awakening. A part of me seemed to have enjoyed having his hands on me once, but I wasn't that Celeste. I was this one, and she had a mate she cared a lot for and who made her feel so good. I tried shoving Zack back, but he pushed me to the couch, getting in between my legs.
"Zack, stop this nonsense! I told you I am mated!"
"So?" he asked.
"Happily mated!"
"You're here, Celeste. You can't be that happy."
"How dare you?" I snarled, shoving my hands into his chest. "Let me go this instance!"
"Why else would you have come?"
"Maybe because I came to truly get to know you. Our packs are not far from each other. It's good to have a good relationship with each other."
Zack huffed, shocking me with the gesture.
"What?" I asked.
"It's all about power, Celeste."
"Power?"
"Power over others. That's how true alphas do it, and if you were mine, I would make sure to grant you so much power too-a bigger territory than you could ever imagine," he told me.
"But I am not yours, and as I told you, I'm happy where I am. Now. Get. Off. Me!"
Zack rolled his eyes as if he couldn't see a bit of a problem from the way he was behaving, and I carefully pushed myself up, not wanting to trigger him and not sure I trusted him not to pounce on me again. Yet he simply leaned back on the couch, watching me as I watched him. I didn't know for how long we sat there, but then there was a knock on the door before it opened, and Serena came inside.
"Oh, who do we have here?" she asked, and I saw a similar smirk on her lips.
She walked over to Zack, coming behind him where he sat, and she leaned over him, turning his head back and kissing him. The kiss lasted for quite some time, making it very awkward for me. It made more memories flash in my mind. "So this is your other mate?" the she-wolf asked.
"Other?" I questioned, glancing at her before focusing on Zack, but he did not meet my eyes. "Zack, what is going on?"
He sighed, but then the she-wolf came closer to him, placing her slender hand on his shoulder. I growled, but it was quickly cut short as I saw him placing his hand over hers. That small gesture was like a knife cutting into my heart. "Zack?" I called.
"Some changes are going to be made, Celeste," he informed me.
"Changes?"
"If this pack will ever have a shot at being great, it can't be dragged down by a no-good luna."
"W-What?" I stammered, feeling so confused.
"You will learn to share."
"Share?" I exclaimed.
"I cannot get rid of you because of our true bond, but I need a better luna by my side."
"What are you talking about?" I shouted.
"Celeste, this is Serena, and she will be my new luna."
It felt as if the world crumbled beneath my feet, and I began shaking my head.
"I am your luna!" I shouted.
"You are, but you will no longer have any control over this pack or me. I have already arranged for a new room to be set up for you, and we will slowly be working less and less together. "Zack! We are mates!"
"Unfortunately, but I cannot let you drag me down anymore," he told me, my heart breaking into pieces as tears filled my eyes. "W-What?"
"You're dragging me down. No more."
I couldn't speak for a long time, and Serena suddenly turned to me, her smirk still there, and I could see they both thought I was being stunned by the vision, but it was another image that disturbed me. Had Zack chosen Serena over me? I was very confused all of a sudden, and I cleared my throat, standing up.
"I should go home," I told them.
"Oh? Leaving so soon?" Serena taunted. "You don't want to stay?"
"No, not really."
"She has a mate to go home to," Zack mocked.
"I do, actually."
"Then off you go."
I rolled my eyes, but I walked away nonetheless. The moment I closed the door behind me, I could hear giggling and Serena calling out his name. I rolled my eyes before I walked down the hallway leading to where the front door was. However, as I neared the door, I stopped and turned around, gazing at the staircase further away.
What are you thinking? my wolf asked.
"Zack and Serena triggered a lot this time, maybe if we went exploring, we could learn more?" Celeste! No!"
My wolf certainly didn't agree, but I needed to know what happened between me and Zack. "You told me I should find a way to remember," I said and walked toward the staircase.
I didn't mean it this way!
"It might be the only way," I pointed out.
No, if we get caught snooping around, then what are we going to do?
"Then we just won't get caught," I suggested, and I began walking up the staircase.
Celeste! Stop!
My wolf tried to take over, but I wouldn't let her have the control. I needed to figure out what happened between me and Zack, and I could only do that by taking a big risk and exploring the place.
