Chapter 20: A Date
-Celeste-
I knew I made Brendon feel worried being so obsessed by the book. I knew I should let it be, and so to make him see I hadn't forgotten him and wouldn't forget him, I decided to arrange a date night for us. Simone was helping me pick out an outfit again and some sexy lingerie for later. "Obviously the red one," she said as I held up a matching pair of see-through underwear.
"And dress?"
"The black one, but with the red heels this time," she told me, and I quickly went into the closet to change. "So, is there trouble in paradise?" "Why would you think that?"
"The clothes you showed me are obviously some "I'm sorry I messed up, now fuck me so hard we can forget" clothes," she said, making me laugh.
"No, I didn't mess up. Brendon is just worried I have grown a little obsessed," I informed her, coming out of the closet now dressed.
Simone let out a long whistle, approving of my look.
"Obsessed, how?" she asked.
"With the book," I replied and pointed.
"But is it so weird? I mean, no one else can tell you what is wrong with you. Why shouldn't you go look for answers elsewhere?" she pointed out.
"No, I agree, and I think Brendon thinks the same, but he just doesn't want me to forget to live this life-our life right now."
"Yeah, I get that."
"I do too. He is right. I have been reading it a lot."
Simone grabbed it and began flipping through the pages. "And what did you learn?"
"That I can possibly swap bodies," I informed her, hearing her chuckle.
"Right, and I have seen pigs fly."
I rolled my eyes, but Simone continued to flip through the book, and while I believe she picked it up just for fun, she began appearing interested in it.
"Finding anything good?" I teased her.
"Actually, this is quite interesting in an I-don't-actually-believe-it way,” she admitted.
"Sure!" I laughed.
"No, I am with Brendon. It's too weird if you could actually swap bodies, but it's rather interesting to read about. But it says here you would be able to remember your other lives, but you don't seem to even remember this life," she pointed out.
"Yeah. It's weird. I have been trying to look through it to understand why all my memories are gone, but I just can't find an answer," I sighed.
"Maybe it's something you need to remember."
"You think the answer is in my locked-away memories?"
"Why not?" she countered.
I shrugged, but then I heard a knock on the door and Brendon's voice on the other side. He knew I had a surprise in store for him, so he was so polite to let me know he was there. I grabbed the book from Simone, quickly placing it away before I walked over to the door and opened it. Brendon practically dropped his jaw, seeing me in the tight and short dress.
"Tell me your surprise-isn't you going clubbing again and torturing me all night knowing you're wearing that?" he chuckled and crossed his arms.
"No, we are going out-you and me."
"So this is all for me?" he asked, and I leaned closer, wrapping my arms around him.
"Yes, and what's underneath."
"I'm still here!" Simone called out.
"Then leave!" Brendon yelled at her, clearly wanting to explore what lay underneath my clothes.
"No, we are leaving. We are going out to eat, and then we can come back and have some fun." "Heard that!" Simone yelled.
"Okay, maybe you should leave," I told her.
She just laughed, and I shook my head before stepping outside. Brendon always looked good, and we weren't going anywhere too fancy, so I didn't even let him change. I just made sure I had my purse with me with my cards and car keys. "I'm driving," I informed him as we stepped out.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Yes."
"Great, then I get to play with you this time."
"Not while I'm driving!"
"You teased me, beautiful. Now I get to put your will to the test."
I chuckled as we got in the car, and I took the driver's seat. I hadn't even driven very far before Brandon's hand came to rest on my thigh and then slid even higher. I grabbed it before he could touch my pussy, but I could feel the heat from his fingers.
"I can't focus when you do that," I chuckled.
"I know," he replied smugly.
I rolled my eyes, but a smile was on my lips as I drove us into the city and found a place to park. We got out of the car and walked over to the restaurant before being led to our table. As we sat down and ordered our food, Brendon turned to me, looking at me almost suspiciously.
"What?" I asked.
"What prompted all of this?"
I smiled a little and reached over, grabbing his hand.
"I know I have been acting very weird, and not just regarding the book. I have been fainting and having strange memories, dreams, or dreams or... I am not even sure what to call it, but you have been so good to me and taking care of me, and I want to show you how much I appreciate you," I confessed.
A big smile spread on his lips, and it was obvious he was very happy to hear it.
"We are mates. You know I always stand by you. I did even when you thought I didn't like you," he admitted.
"Really?"
"You never noticed those older kids when they began picking on you, they suddenly just stopped?"
"Hmm, never thought about that," I admitted.
"Well, you were five, so I can understand why."
I chuckled a little. "What else did you do for me that I didn't notice?"
"The times you went out when you thought me and your brother didn't know, we might have followed and kept an eye on you. We have saved you and your friends from many creeps." "Sounds like you are the creeps, stalking us!" I countered, but I couldn't help but laugh.
He smiled, shrugging a little and not looking very guilty about keeping an eye on me.
"Go on. What else?"
"When I was rude about your outfits, I was only looking out for you, and because I hated you, you might wear that for someone else but me."
"You could just have been honest and told me how you felt," I reminded him, but he shook his head.
"You wouldn't really have believed me, would you?"
"Why not?"
"You couldn't feel it. You would question it even if you did believe it a little.
"Hmm, maybe you're right. I might not have been so open to trusting it right away before I turned 18."
"And even then, you weren't quite ready to accept it."
"Tell me how you convinced me."
"I told you it took time."
"Yes, but what exactly did you do?" I asked.
