Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 553 I Won’t Forgive You Whatever You Do

More than anything, Avery was baffled and didn't know how to reply to Zed. She kept staring at Zed for a few moments before smiling bitterly. "Zed, I know a lot about Moore and I know how he feels. I know how he thinks. And he will not fall in love with me no matter how hard I try to impress him."

"It is inadvisable to make such an absolute conclusion, and that too, a pessimistic one. You shouldn't give up before you try anything. Once you keep on doing that, everything will be possible. Vikki, you are very gorgeous. I am sure that every man will be attracted by your beauty once he gets to see it. I am sure that you will get rewarded as long as you keep on trying hard and pushing yourself. You need to believe in yourself before someone else will believe in you,"

Zed told her with a convincing smile as he wanted to comfort her. He wanted to make sure that she wasn't pessimistic about her love for Moore.

His words made Avery fall deep in some thought. After mediating in silence for a while, she resolutely nodded in agreement and replied, "Okay, I've got it. I will talk to my manager as soon as we can arrange a meeting. I plan to take a long holiday, so that I can do more in an attempt to impress Moore and then make him love me back. Since I have known and loved him for years, I really want to try hard to gain his love. Whatever the results, I will be glad to accept them."

Hearing her determined tone as opposed to her previously compromised attitude, Zed looked at her with admiration and complimented her, "Avery, I haven't expected that you would be so open-minded and resolute. I really admire you a lot. Please take it easy! Jean and I are Moore's friends. We are his sole friends around these parts, and we will help you so you won't be alone."

"Mr. Qi, thank you so much. And, I would like to express my gratitude to your wife too," Avery replied gratefully.

"There's no need for formalities. You can call us Zed and Jean." Zed smiled at her. He didn't feel all at ease with her being so humble and down-to-earth.

"Then, please call me Avery! Vikki is just my stage name. But you should call me Avery, since we're all friends now," She replied with a smile.

"Okay, Avery." As Zed replied, a smile ran across his face and he noticed some sort of softness on hers, as if she was kind and loving.

Zed himself was really handsome and successful. And what's more, he had spoiled his wife very much. Looking at this man, Avery was unconsciously lost in admiration and involuntarily told him, "You and Jean make a great couple. I really admire you two." "You don't need to admire us. Everyone can find his or her right one as long as he or she tries hard," Zed advised her.

"I hope so!" Even with Zed and Jean helping her, Avery wasn't so sure that she would get Moore's love back.

She knew very clearly about the kind of person he was as they had been classmates for four years.

But as Zed had just told her, how could she know whether Moore would finally accept her love or not if she had never tried to gain it?

Avery didn't want to spend her entire life living in regret and remorse. She didn't want to miss any opportunities either.

With that thought in mind, she was intent on doing something to impress Moore. She was thinking that no matter what the outcome of her efforts was, she wouldn't have to feel sorry for having never tried.

Jean and Moore came back with a box of insipid porridge purchased near the hospital. Jean was walking behind Moore and staring at his back in silence, feeling rather sad.

She was thinking that Moore wouldn't forgive her so easily this time.

She had been so anxious that she had scolded Moore just based on her own thoughts, and hadn't kept his feelings in mind, which had hurt him.

However, she couldn't take back her words.

The way she saw it now was that she had to act obediently in front of Moore so that he could forgive her at the earliest.

As Jean was lost deep in her thoughts, she didn't see where she was going on the stairs. Suddenly, her ankle twisted and she got a sprain. The pain was so sudden and piercing that she cried out loud involuntarily.

Moore was walking in front of her but hurriedly turned around as soon as he heard her cry. When he looked at Jean, he noticed that her face had turned deadly pale. At the sight of that, his eyebrows got knitted and drops of sweat welled up on his forehead and started to fall off.

Moore ran over to her in a hurry and asked her anxiously, "What's wrong?"

"I've got a sprain..." Jean replied painfully, though she felt more pity for him than pain for herself.

"How could you be so careless? Do you feel pain anywhere? Can you still walk?" Moore dropped questions one after another, as he got more and more anxious.

Jean tried to stand up and continue walking. But she felt even more terrible pain in her ankle after taking a measly two steps upstairs and her face turned much more livid.

Even if he hadn't asked Jean, Moore could easily know that she couldn't walk purely by judging from her facial expressions.

Immediately, he squatted down in front of her and told her, "Come on. Let me carry you upstairs on my back."

"Um..." Jean felt embarrassed on hearing his offer. So she paused before she said anything more. She involuntarily looked around to confirm if anyone else was around, looking a little hesitant.

"Well, what are you hesitating about? Hurry up. I will take you to see a doctor," Moore ordered a little more loudly this time, as if he was worried about Jean and angry at the same time.

Since Moore hadn't forgiven her yet, Jean was really afraid of annoying him once again. At his insistence, she had no choice but to climb on his back as he ordered her. She did that and then gingerly asked, "Moore, are you sure that you are capable of carrying me upstairs? Zed said that I am very heavy. You haven't fully recovered yet. I am afraid that..."

"Shut up," Moore rebuked very impatiently.

Jean didn't say anything more on hearing Moore's furious rebuke, but from her face, it was evident that she was full of grievances and regret.

She could see that Moore had become very fierce ever since she had enraged him accidentally.

Now, he was treating her unkindly from time to time, and was no longer who he had been before.

Jean was thinking there had to be something that she could do to improve the situation.

At that thought, she immediately grabbed Moore's collar, and started behaving like a spoiled child before him.

Seeing that, Moore asked still looking grumpy, "What are you doing?"

"I behaved a little recklessly before, Moore. But now, if only because I am injured and in pain, can you please just forgive me?" Jean implored him pitifully. "No, I can't." Seeing that Jean was still trying to beg him for forgiveness even though she had been injured, Moore unknowingly became even more furious. For God's sake, she was going to be a mother now, but still didn't know how to take care of herself. She had even gotten a sprain while simply walking. This part of Jean only made Moore angrier.

Hearing Moore refuse to forgive her so directly, Jean pulled a long face right away and pouted, "Moore, I will be very upset if you are unwilling to forgive me. Just now, I was thinking hard on how to make you forgive me. I was lost so deep in my thoughts that I didn't look at the stairs while I was walking. As a result, I got the sprain. I am not sure what would happen next time if you are still reluctant to forgive me. In addition, I am more uncertain if someone will be around me when I am injured next time. If not, I will... I will..." "Then what will you..." Moore questioned her closely in a more stern tone.

"Then, I will..." Jean still failed to utter the words out as she had thought. She was so frightened by Moore's deadly stern voice that she even winced and her heart was filled with regret and remorse.

Ironically, now that she was injured, she had thought that Moore would become soft-hearted towards her because of that. Therefore, she had originally planned to beg an apology out of him by taking advantage of this chance and complaining to him how miserable she was for not being forgiven.

But things weren't happening as she had expected them to. Moore hadn't forgiven her and instead, he was looking more furious. As Jean was confused about that, Moore asked, "Now, what else do you want to say?" Finding that Jean just kept silent without uttering anything more, he sneered and continued, "Jean, let me tell you. Don't beg for my forgiveness that way. It won't work for me."

"Then, how can you forgive me?" Jean dropped this question as she suddenly held Moore's neck with her hands.

"I won't forgive you whatever you do!" Moore replied in a tough tone.

But as he spoke to Jean that gravely, he was overburdened with complex feelings, and thus looked down on the floor. From the corner of his eyes, he saw that Jean's arms were trembling. This immediately made him soft-hearted and he calmed down quite a bit. "Oh!" Jean couldn't help sighing heavily. But as soon as she noticed Moore's relieved face, a hopeful smile crept onto her face.

Usually, Moore didn't lose temper so rashly, but he could hardly cool himself down once he got angry.

'What should I do?' thought Jean.

"Be careful when you walk. Don't always get lost in wild thoughts." As Jean was almost going to lose her hope about being forgiven by him, Moore suddenly exhorted, "We are friends. I don't mind what you have said. Jean, I know that you did all that for the sake of me, but there are many things that we can't force ourselves to do. In face of those moments, we should just let nature take its course."00000
