Chapter CHAPTER 137
Chloe's POV Darkness
That was all greeted me as I slowly roused from my restless slumber. I couldn't move, my limbs felt heavy and immobile. Was I in chains, or restrained in some kind of nightmare?
The pounding in my head answered the question for me, no I was very much awake.
My throat was dry and my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth as I struggled to remember what had happened.
My mind was hazy just like the shadows around me.
Had I been in a fight? With who?
The last thing I remember was a searing pain and an unbearable heat burning through my veins but how did I get here?
As my eyes adjusted to the faint outline of a room, I discovered I was in a hospital room.
The terror of my situation dawned on me as I tried to call out to someone but my voice was nothing more than a hoarse whisper.
Then, I heard voices, soft voices that came closer and closer. I strained my ears but I could only pick out bits and pieces from their conversation.
"I really don't know how long it'd last."
"But I think she's stable now." I heard another voice say.
A sudden panic sets in as I struggle against my bindings but I felt too weak to actually pull the intended force. I felt a sharp pain in my belly and I stopped dragging against the chains.
My hands instinctively started moving to protect my unborn child. At this point I am not even sure my child was okay and the feeling of dread enveloped me as I thought of the possibility of me losing my child.
It made my insides flip with apprehension that I needed to get out of this place. I really needed to figure out what was happening to me, it felt like I had no control over my body and my demon was taking over fully. With every passing moment, my hunger grew stronger, the hunger that came from the deepest, most primal part of my being.
I could smell it, feel it in the air.
Blood, fresh human blood.
Like a predator sensing its prey, I felt my fangs extend, the sharp tips piercing my gums. My body tensed, straining against the binding that held me captive.
My heart raced as the voices became louder and the scent of blood became more intoxicating with every passing second.
With a snarl that rose from deep within my chest, I strained against the bound, my eyes fixed at the figures that stood in the doorway.
When they realized I was watching them, the figures turned and whispered. "She's awake."

The sweet, metallic tang of blood filled my senses as I tore through the plastic bags. I could hear the soft hiss of the fluid pouring into my waiting mouth, and I savored each drop as if it were the finest wine. With every drop of the red elixir that passed my lips, I felt a surge of strength and power course through my veins.
I noticed my brother's eyes on me and my eyes opened slowly and Jason and Angelo stopped what they were saying to look at me, they looked like they were worried
about me hearing their conversation when I didn't hear anything and their actions made me more curious.
"I am glad you're better." Angelo said with a smile which I returned.
"How're you feeling?" Jason asked, sitting beside me.
I didn't answer him, instead I turned my face to the other side. He had a crestfallen expression but he deserved all of it and even more.
Angelo cleared his throat and smiled. "I'll leave you two to settle your differences, we can't afford to be separated at this time." He said with a sly smile and exited the room.
"You owe me an apology Chloe!" I heard Jason say as he shifted close to me. I pretended not to hear him as I continued sipping on my blood bag, but he knew the right words to tip me off so I had no choice but to respond to him. "Are you trying to be funny right now?" I asked with brows raised.
"No, I'm not.. You tore my clothes and bit my ears, you were so strong and I couldn't overpower you. Remind me never to fight with you ever again." He said and I gasped when I saw the red marks on his ears and I wondered when I did that but again, he deserved it but now I felt so bad.
"Well, you wouldn't blame me. I didn't like the way you talked about my father. If you don't respect him, at least respect the fact that he is no more." I said as he raised his hand in surrender.
"Fine! I'll do better moving forward, just get better, we've a lot of things to talk about."
"What happened to me Jason, I still don't feel like my usual self."
"It's normal. You had a vampire burn, so you're merely just recuperating, just that the recovery time is longer because you're a pregnant hybrid."
"Vampire burn? I've never heard of that."
"There are many things you don't know, Chloe. It's a rare case that happens when a vampire starts heating up, it's caused by different things but in your own case trauma. The doctor explained that the series of events that transpired manifested as a physical reaction because of the argument you had with me and the complex relationship you had with your mate." He muttered under his breath.
Talking about Marcus, I couldn't feel him or bond with him anymore, which was rather strange. Or had he decided to unmate me in my absence and make Lizzie his Luna instead.
I couldn't help the feeling of fear and irritation that coursed through me.
Jason noticed and inquired the reason for my sudden change in demeanor.
"How long have I been here for?"
"Three weeks, why?"
