Alpha's Little Vampire Mate

Chapter 68

Marcus's

POV:

Has it been an hour? Two? I don't know how long it had been, but the icy glares I had been receiving from the 'ever brooding' vampire who sat across from me, was enough to chill me to the bone.

Earlier, I had been in my office scribbling away on some papers for a piece of land I planned on purchasing from another Alpha who was a friend of mine. I had not been paying attention to my environment but even if I had, I wasn't prepared to lift my eyes off the paper for a moment, to see two similar creatures standing a few feet away from my desk and staring intensely.

I had been spooked and I jumped in my seat, only to redden in embarrassment, when I realized that it was only Angelo and as I had managed to gather, Jason. I glared hard at them and while one apologized and passed me a little smile, the other remained glaring, a deep frown plastered on his face.

They had demanded to see Chloe and as I went to fetch her, I ordered the evil person to stay hidden, as Chloe was not allowed to see him or he would make her uncomfortable. He had no problem with that, vanishing right in front of me and leaving my skin with goosebumps.

While I had let Chloe into the office to meet Angelo, I led the other into a spare room. I was surprised that he had accepted to follow me after. He looked around my room, then went over to the reading table, pulled out the chair and plopped down on it.

I didn't think it was wise to leave him on his own, so I sat on the bed with my arms crossed, watching him as he watched me back.

A knock came on the door and I heaved a sigh of relief and hurried over to go open it. Angelo was standing by the door and beside him was a sober looking Chloe. Her eyes went past me and into the room, and I already had an idea of who had attracted her attention.

Angelo pushed past me and I pushed the door wider to let him in. Chloe walked into my arms and I pulled her into a tight hug, closing the door behind us. I thought it was going to be a brief hug but when she refused to let me go, I held on tight. "Ehem!"

We parted, when someone clears their throat. I met the cold stares of the vampires in the room. While one was just cold, the other was cold and furious.

I grabbed Chloe's hand, leading her further into the room. I stared down at her little angelic face and as if she had felt my eyes on her, she looked up, giving me a little smile. "How are you?" "We will talk later," she whispered.

A growl cut our attention and we turned back to face a red faced Jason. His brother had been whispering something to him and whatever it was, it must have pissed him off. His gaze flickered over to where our hands were joined, he kept glaring fiercely at it.

I got a little disturbed and thought that maybe I should let go, but Chloe's little hand tightened, holding me firmly. I cleared my throat, and three pairs of piercing green eyes turned to me. "What is going on here?"

"What is going on here," Jason started in an icy voice. "Are you groping unto my sis-her!" He corrected, making Chloe flinch at his 'sort of rejection'. "How dare you touch her that way? What gave you that right?!"

I bit down on my lip to suppress the anger that was already building up inside of me. He had a lot of nerves coming into my land, being under my roof and spitting insults to my face. He had no idea that I also didn't feel like being in the same space as him, and was only tolerating him because of Chloe. I would not have hesitated pouncing on him and shredding him to pieces, if not the little relationship that binds us.

"He is my husband," Chloe gritted out, as I felt her own anger radiating off her. I felt her nails dig into my hand and I could feel her draw blood from me.

"Nobody was talking to you Chloe," Jason snapped at her, making her shudder a bit. "I was talking to him," he pointed a finger at me. "Let him answer for himself!"

I huffed, struggling hard not to jump at him. "With all due respect, I won't let you come into my house and disrespect me and my wife. I do not know why you are so angry, but that is not an excuse to pin your frustrations on me." He growled aggressively and I growled right back.

"Do you werewolves think you can just pick up any woman and make her yours? I see the same thing repeating itself here and the worst thing is that nobody is taking it seriously!"

"And what is that supposed to mean," Chloe hissed and I turned to look at her, as I felt her temperature rise. Her wolf had been provoked and she was about to lose it if nothing was done about it sooner. "What are you talking about?!" "Well," Jason started with an equally pissed tone. "I am referring to Tristan. That buffoon got my mother killed and you," he pointed an accusing finger at me. "Are about to also get my sister killed and she's so stupid not to see it!" "Don't you dare point that stupid finger at me!" I yelled, charging towards him.

"And what will you do?!"

We were engaged in a heated glare up at each other's face. My chest rose and fell in anger, just the same way he did. I was a second away from punching him in the face, I don't know how I managed to hold back. "Enough!"
