Finally, they made their way to my side of the room, obvious to me sitting in the shadows.

I could see them, but they didn't notice me tucked away in the corner.

"Ah, so this must be the Aria we've all heard about. You two look really good together." omeone teased, and suddenly the room fell silent.

As we all know, Aria is Leo's very good partner and his childhood friend.

But they also knew that Alpha had been married to his Luna Elizabeth, for three years.

The seemingly innocent remark stirred a ripple of curiosity across the room.

Aria let out a soft laugh, leaning in even closer to Leo, as if to reinforce their bond.

"Oh, Mr. Andrews, this is my business partner, Aria. You've met her before," Leo said smoothly, steering the conversation away.

But he didn't move an inch away from her, their closeness remaining palpable.

They glided through the room, arm-in-arm, enveloped by laughter and the sound of clinking glasses.

I lowered my gaze, my fingers instinctively reaching for my phone, hoping for some

distraction.

Leo had texted me just moments before.

[Sorry, Aria and I had to rush to an urgent meeting. Did you make it?]

[Where are you? Why haven't you replied?]

[Forget it. If you haven't left yet, just stay home.]

I glanced up at them again, and still, I didn't feel angry.

I just felt a dull, aching sense of foolishness settling in.
