"So, what do you think? I know it's rough, but I'd really love to hear your thoughts," After
the song was played, I nervously asked Rolin's opinion.
It's almost interview day and my nerves are on edge.
olin pondered, his expression unreadable.
After a long wait, he seemed to have something in mind and smiled as he locked eyes with
mé.
"Elizabeth, don't hate me for being honest, but these music... they're not quite meet my standard."
I nodded, bracing myself for the sting of rejection.
But to my surprise, instead of dismissing me, he waved me over to sit beside him.
"Don't get me wrong," Rolin said quickly, noticing my crestfallen expression.
"That's really impressive considering you haven't played in years. I didn't think you'd be this good after all this time. Your playing technique is great, you're just missing something." "Missing something?" I echoed.
"Yeah," he said, leaning back in his chair. "They're good, but they lack that spark. That unique touch that used to set you apart. Technically, they are sound, but they're missing your personality." I stared at him, trying to grasp what he meant.
"Come with me," Rolin said suddenly, grabbing his coat. "There is something I want to show
you."
I hesitated, just for a moment.
Leo had just returned from his trip and was expecting us to have dinner together.

In the old days, I would've immediately declined Rolin's offer and gone to dine with Leo, high-spirited and eager.
But now, it suddenly struck me that dinner with Leo wasn't as important as my music.
After all, Rolin hadn't outright rejected me; there was still a chance.
In that moment, I understood why Leo had stood me up time and again. It wasn't just because of Aria; it was because there were things more important to him than being with
1. e.
I was never his first choice.
"Fine," I finally said. "Lead the way."
