Chapter 122 Holding Her on His Lap
Sierra was about to apologize when he let out a low, mocking chuckle. Then, in a cool yet almost teasing tone, Theo commented, "How do you want me to refer to myself when talking to you?"
When she raised her head, she met his deep, shadowed gaze. The dim light reflected in them, making them look like a dark, bottomless lake, threatening to pull her under.
She suddenly felt a flicker of fear and instinctively tried to step back, but he moved in closer, leaving her with nowhere to escape. Her back pressed firmly against the car door as she looked up at him, caught off guard and unsure what to do.
"Uncle Theo, I was impulsive when saying those words. You're my elder, so of course, you have the right to say whatever you want," she stammered, trying to smooth things over.
However, instead of answering, Theo slowly lowered his head, bringing his face closer to hers.
His warm breath brushed against her ear as his deep, intoxicating voice whispered, "You and Benson broke up. That means... I'm not your elder anymore."
Before Sierra could process his words, his warm fingers brushed gently across her cheek, leaving behind a trail of heat that shot through her entire body like an electric current.
Sierra's fair, delicate face flushed red in an instant. She instinctively tried to push him away, but before she could, he caught her wrist with ease. His other arm wrapped around her waist before she could react, and in one swift motion, he lifted her onto his lap.
The intimate position sent a jolt of panic through her. Even through the thin layer of his suit, she could feel the heat radiating from his body-warm and consuming, like a fire slowly spreading to her own skin.
"Uncle Theo, what are you doing?!" Sierra panicked, struggling to get off his lap. Yet, his strong hands firmly held her shoulders, keeping her in place.
"Don't move."
His deep voice brushed against her ear, heating her face. She was certain her ears were burning red, making them look like boiled shrimp.
Then, his voice dropped even lower as he continued murmuring against her ear, "Benson's here."
Sierra's entire body stiffened, her mind struggling to catch up. Before she could react, Theo pulled her firmly into his arms, pressing her close against him.
At that moment, from outside the car, Benson's voice rang out.
"Adrian, what are you doing here?"
Adrian spotted Benson walking over with a bouquet of roses in hand and immediately felt a wave of tension Without missing a beat, he stepped in front of the car window, blocking any view of the backseat, and wore a potite smile. "Oh, I'm just here waiting for Mr. Gray."
"Uncle Theo?" Benson's sharp features flickered with surprise, a hint of suspicion creeping into his expression. "What is he doing on campus?"
"He came to visit Ms. Anderson," Adrian responded with a polite smile, his tone composed and unwavering.
Benson's suspicion faded slightly,
but a trace of doubt still lingered in his eyes. His thoughts drifted back to the hotel, to the way Theo had
shielded Sierra that night. He
frowned slightly as he pressed
further, "Uncle Theo is always busy. Why would he come here in the
middle of the day instead of visiting Ms. Anderson at home when he has time?"
Adrian's mind worked quickly before he replied, unfazed, "Ms. Anderson ran out of Nutritosine and
Primaxetine. Since Mr. Gray was free this afternoon, he decided to bring them over." Then, shifting the conversation, he asked, "What about you, Mr. Benson? Why are you here at this hour?"
Benson knew that Theo had always respected Jemima, so he didn't overthink it too much. Hearing Adrian's question, Benson glanced at the roses in his hand and replied, "I'm here to see Cee. When I spotted Uncle Theo's car, I thought maybe he was here to see her too."
"Ms. Shaw?" Adrian feigned mild surprise. "She studies here? So, you're here to apologize to her?"
"Yeah." Benson gave a short nod. "Well, then, I'll leave you to it. I'm going to find Cee."
"Alright."
Adrian nodded with a polite smile, watching as Benson walked away. Only then did he finally let out a quiet breath, his tense shoulders relaxing slightly.
Inside the car, Sierra was still pressed against Theo's chest, her body tensed. His heartbeat was steady but strong, pounding like a drum against her ear, each beat resonating through her. It was firm, unwavering— intoxicating.
