A Drunken Decision Cynthia Chapter 25
Chapter 25
The next day was Saturday, and the duo had arranged that date to visit Annabelle’s parents. To Annabelle’s surprise, she had a somewhat restless feeling. She felt as if she had left home for a long time, but the truth was, they had just moved to Walker residence three or four days ago.
Lucas had just bought some oatmeal, sandwiches, and pancakes for breakfast. The couple left after eating their breakfast.
Last night, Annabelle had left Madeline a message, informing her that she and Lucas would be heading home together.
Before they reached the entrance of the Ross family’s mansion, Annabelle felt perturbed. Fortunately, her nervousness subsided after seeing Nathan, who was waiting for them outside. She then smiled at him.
Annabelle and Lucas got out of the car. Within seconds, Nathan stepped forward to welcome them.
in the days leading up to their marriage, Nathan was in school. He knew that Annabelle and Lucas were getting married, but he had not known that they had wedded this casually. Even though his mom had already given him an explanation, he was still not satisfied.
So, Nathan wore a long face when he saw Lucas. He only rushed to follow behind Annabelle and asked how she was doing these few days.
“I’ve been great!” Annabelle grinned from ear to ear as she spoke. When she was released from the hospital the previous day, the different types of test results showed that her babies were developing well.
“How’s school?”
When Annabelle asked about him, Nathan paused for a moment. By the next minute, he had determination in his eyes as he looked at Annabelle and told her with a serious expression on his face, “I’m planning to study abroad!”
In the past, Nathan’s goal was just like Annabelle’s, which was to be pampered and live a carefree life. However, after observing what had happened to Annabelle over the past few months, that sense of defeat due to powerlessness, he came to an important realization. He could only become stronger in order to become Annabelle’s support. If not, he would never accomplish anything for the rest of his life.
Nathan refused to be like this.
After hearing what he had said, Annabelle was extremely shocked. “Why would you make this decision all of a sudden? The food abroad would be unpalatable. Will you be able to stand it?”
“I knew it!” Nathan thought to himself. He assumed that he was useless in Annabelle’s eyes. In times of trouble, she would not even think about asking him for help.
Nathan waved his hands and said nonchalantly, “It’ll be fine. I had already experienced the tough life in the boot camp. Do you still think that I would not be able to get used to the food abroad? Don’t you worry. I will study hard and earn more money in the future for you and my nephews to spend.”
Annabelle instantly understood the reason why Nathan wanted to study abroad. At this point, she felt her heart melt as warmth seeped into it.
“Since when did you become all grown up, Nathan?” Annabelle stretched her hands out to ruffle Nathan’s hair. His cool hairstyle from the past had been transformed into a buzz cut due to the boot camp. In these two months, his hair had indeed grown out by quite a bit. When touched, it felt sharp and itchy
She continued, “But, it’s not necessary. Lucas is amazing. He wouldn’t let anyone hurt me.”
Upon hearing the name “Lucas,” Nathan subconsciously glanced at Lucas, who was standing at the side. At this moment, Lucas had already taken various types of gifts out of the trunk of the car
He was standing at a side, quietly waiting for them to finish talking
Facing those pair of calm eyes, Nathan thought about those rumors and legends he had heard about Lucas. Then, he immediately conceded and withdrew his gaze. Reluctantly, he welcomed the couple into the house as he thought to himself stubbornly, “I’d never change my mind about studying
abroad.”
Rather than depending on others who might betray him, he might as well become an independent man.

He could only protect those who he wanted to protect after he became stronger.
Even though he knew what life was like studying abroad and how tough it might get after tasting the food there, those sacrifices meant nothing compared to seeing Annabelle suffer and knowing that he couldn’t do anything to help her.
Whilst helping Lucas bring the gifts inside and stepping into the house, Nathan shouted, “Dad, Mom! Anna and her husband are here!”
Annabelle’s nervousness that had already subsided returned the moment she saw her parents. Braxton’s attitude was fine. He treated Lucas amiably as he welcomed the man into the house. As for Madeline, she was reluctant to even put on a pretense. When she saw Annabelle, her eyebrows were furrowed so deeply that she could’ve trapped an insect in between them.
Annabelle could sense Madeline’s attitude toward her. Compared to a few days prior, she felt that Madeline’s hatred toward her had become more intense.
Annabelle’s nervousness was suddenly replaced with sadness. She did not understand what she did wrong and why Madeline was treating her that way.
Then, she saw Ashley, who was staring at Lucas intently. Annabelle was initially stunned before her heart started thumping rapidly in her chest.
“So, the reason why Mom had been treating me that way is because of Ashley? But why? Does Ashley have a thing for Lucas?” Annabelle thought to herself.
She could see the look in Ashley’s eyes when the latter looked at Lucas. Even if Annabelle knew nothing about relationships, she could tell something
was amiss.
“Come here!” Just as Annabelle was momentarily stunned due to the shocking realization, Lucas‘ voice rang loudly.
Annabelle lifted her head and looked over only to see Lucas staring straight at her.
Subconsciously, Annabelle peeked over at Madeline and Ashley. She saw that their expressions had indeed changed, and she could not help but let out a long sigh. However, she did not hesitate when she walked toward Lucas.
Perhaps Annabelle hadn’t developed any love for Lucas yet but was only interested in his outstanding looks, but no matter what, he was her husband and the father of her babies. Moreover, Lucas had promised her that he would manage their marriage seriously in order to build a harmonious family for their two children. Then, she would have no other reason to break their promise.
No matter what feelings Ashley had toward Lucas, no matter what attitude Madeline had toward her, Annabelle refused to give in.
After Annabelle had walked in front of them, Lucas immediately pulled her to sit beside himself, coincidentally blocking Ashley’s burning gaze.
Ashley’s face suddenly turned ashen. These few days, she had been convincing herself that there were many outstanding men out there. There was no need for her to waste her energy on a used man like Lucas. However, it was no use. It was really no use at all. Such type of self–convincing method had only made her more miserable as her heart still yearned for that man..
“But, how could he marry Annabelle?” Ashley thought to herself.
Upon knowing that he was coming, Ashley had put on exquisite makeup. She wanted to show that she was so much prettier than Annabelle, who did not. wear makeup.
However, though Lucas‘ gaze would occasionally fall on Braxton, who was talking to him, he never once glanced over at her.
On the other hand, Ashley had been looking at Lucas greedily the moment he entered. She anticipated that he could give her just a tiny bit of response.
However, there was none. Not only did he not give any response to him, but he had also called Annabelle to come over to sit in the space between them.
Ashley felt miserable. If she hadn’t tried her best to control her emotions, she would have cried on the spot.
She couldn’t think of a reasonable explanation for how Lucas and that idiot Annabelle got together.
“What right does Annabelle have to marry Lucas?” she wondered.
With that thought in mind, she glared at Annabelle malevolently. She regretted her decision of letting her go initially. Moreover, she also regretted

thinking that if Annabelle had gotten away from her life and left her alone, she would not have caused her any trouble. She shouldn’t have shown
Annabelle any mercy.
