Chapter 3.
"Hey? Hey, are you awake...?"
Iris woke up by a soft voice calling out to her. She had no idea whoever it could be, it wasn't a familiar one.
She moaned when she opened her eyes a little. The light caused her to flinch and her head felt like she had the worst hangover in years.
The voice that woke her, came from a young woman sitting next to her. Iris estimated her to be about 17 years old, just like her oldest daughter. She had a pale face framed by dark, punky hair, a nose piercing, and smeared eye makeup probably from crying.
"Ohh, thank god, you're awake! I thought you died, or something..."
The girl blurred out in exaggeration.
"Nah, I'm fine, but where are we?" Iris said, while looking around.
The room was dimly lit, had cream coloured metallic walls and flooring, it contained 6 beds, all situated partial inside the walls, and there were two closed doors right in front of her. A tall blond was banging ferociously against one of the doors, cursing her lungs out in a language Iris recognised as being French.
"I don't know where we are, none of us do. I remember standing outside in the garden at my boyfriends place, smoking a sigaret, when I saw a falling star, made a wish and the next thing I know, ...poeff..., everything went black... and I woke up here... So weird, you know! My name is Helena, by the way, but I'd prefer Helli, what's yours?"
Iris grinned, yep, she sounded just like her daughter.
A infuriating scream filled the room. Startled by the sound, both of them looked at the furious woman who had been banging on the door, seeing her sliding down, with her back against the door, until she was on the floor. The woman laid her head on her knees, with her arms over her head, Iris saw her hands were red and swollen from repeatedly banging on the door.
Although her head still felt like a war zone, Iris got up and walked to the woman. She'd already seen there were 3 other woman, but none of them made a move to give the woman a helping hand.
She knelt down in front of the woman, keeping a little distance, just incase the woman would turn on her.
"Hey..., you're alright?"
The woman lifted her head, a little to look at Iris.
"Oui, ça va super! Être kidnappé et enfermé avec vous! Pourquoi ça ne se passerait pas bien?"
(Ja, het gaat super! Word ontvoerd en opgesloten met jou! Waarom zou het niet goed gaan?)
Even though Iris' French wasn't that great, she understood perfectly well what the woman just said, the venomous sarcasm was undeniable.
"Wow! Whatever..."
Iris had no intention of being this woman's punching bag, and got up from where she'd crouched down.
"I just wanted to make sure you were alright, you can keep your sarcasm..."
Heading back to Helli. While she was walking back to the girl, she noticed the other three women stayed away from them and hurdled together at one off the beds, clinging to one another like baby monkeys to their mother. They looked Iris over and whispered to each other in a language she didn't understood, and although the women weren't hostile there was something about them, that made her hair stand up.
"What's wrong with them?"
Iris asked her as she sat down next to the girl, nodding her head in the direction of the three women.
Helli shrugged.
"Dunno..., they've been like this the whole time. God..., I could use a sigaret right now."
And let herself fall back on the back. Iris smirked, Ohhh, yeah, definitely the spitting image of Lena...
A rumbling sound came from where the blond woman had been sitting, and Iris looked towards the door.
The woman had hoisted herself up and was now slowly making her way up to the place they were sitting.
"I'm sorry for being a bitch." She said with a heavy French accent.
"My name is Veronique, I don't know why those three act the way they do..." and gestured to the other three women with her thump.
"...but I do know who took us and where we are..." Seating herself on the opposite bed.
Veronique told them, she was a police officer who, unfortunately, just happen to have her day shift changed for a night. While she was making her rounds in a large mall, she saw saw a shooting star through the glass roof, and just like Helli and Iris, she made a stupid wish.
Because she was standing in front of a shop window at a certain moment on her round, she'd saw one of her captors coming, and although she ducked away seeing the creature pointing a weapon at her. Although the tranquilizer dart had just grazed her shoulder, the stuff was strong enough for her body to go limb. Even though, her body had gone completely numb, and she wasn't been able to get away, Veronique could see everything happening to and around her. Her captors, she told them, weren't human and neither were they on earth anymore, but on a ship..., a spaceship...
Even though everything she told them sounded to strange to be true, Iris and Helli knew, what she just told them was the truth, it wasn't a joke and Veronique didn't have hallucinations, this was for real.
Iris felt a chill run down her back, they weren't in the slightest bit of trouble, no, they had a huge problem...
At that moment she had no idea how "huge" her problems would become...
Kyr'nac
The trip to "Vas Brec naDir" took him six days, sure, he gotten there faster but he wasn't in a rush and made a few pitstops at a few pirate ships, to gather some equipment for his ship.
Some of the engines components weren't working as fluidly as they should, due to the ships age and he wanted to replace them before they would quit while he was flying it.
When he arrived on the space station and made his way from the docking area, that same unnerving feeling ran down his spine. Unconsciously he was always alert, but now his internal antennas were constantly on. He was no easy prey, but for some rouges he was an ideal target, the one who could take him down would rise in esteem within a community or group.
The first 3 days after his arrival at "Vas Brec naDir", Kyr'nac spend most of his time gathering the supplies he needed, some of them weren't available at that moment, and was told to come back a couple of days later.
Since he had already calculated this, he had planned his much-needed "relaxation" in the time he had to wait.
"Well, well... look who crawled out of his lair..." The taunting voice came from above, and Ky'nac looked up to the second floor.
"Don't you have some sucking to do, leech...?" Kyr'nac's raucous voice sounded annoyed, he had hoped not to bump into the dark elf, but his luck had just run out.
Liu'an was an Aayrieen, an elfin being, known for "harvesting" food, in their case emotions. Usually they obtained these emotions from beings who were dying, having fun, being angry, wherever the emotions were intense and freely given, but the "leech", as Kyr'nac so kindly addressed, was a different case, he loved to create emotions in his victims himself, especially pain and fear, and preferably both at the same time.
Everyone was aware that the man was a psychopath, but few stood in his way because of his imposing looks, royal lineage and physical prowess. Even the authorities looked the other way when they found a murdered woman, even though everybody knew about Liu'ans involvement .
Kyr'nac was one of the few who wasn't impressed with the Elf.
With his 9.5ft, Kyr'nac towered over most creatures, though with an 8.3ft Liu'an was certainly no slouch. But where Ky'nac was a terrifying appearance due to his large, coarse build and horrible scars, Liu'an was a breathtaking personality with his luminous white hair, dark skin, purple eyes and slender athletic build, and while he too had several scars all over his body and face, these scars only made him more attractive.
Liu'ans chilling, patronising laughter, caused chills to run down Kyr'nacs spine, good Goddess, how he loathed the creep. The only reason he hadn't killed the leech was, he had no proof of his involvement in certain killings, even though everything pointed in his direction.
"No... A little bird told me there a fresh pair of hookers will arrive tomorrow, and you know what they say... " a new whore, makes a man scream for more..."
He winked at Kyr'nac, then turned around to his men.
"Guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow then..." He said with a dirty grin and walked away.
Great..., Kyr'nac muttered to himself, although he had no intention of staying away from the brothel, the thought of seeing that rat again the next day wasn't something he looked forward to.
