Chapter 0320

Leonardo leaned forward, his gaze intense. "Maximus, do you really want to know why Lucius is "Yes!" Maximus roared, his frustration boiling over.

Leonardo sighed heavily, his voice tinged with regret. "Ah, Maximus. I truly wish we'd never had to touch this cursed topic. But seeing you so willing to hand over our legacy to people who've never lifted a finger for it, I suppose I have no choice but to tell you the truth."

"Then spit it out!" Maximus demanded, his voice trembling with fury and desperation.

"Lucius is my son, not yours!" Leonardo bellowed, his voice so loud it echoed beyond the office walls and into the boardroom.

In the next room, Laura was carrying a glass of water for Serenity when she froze at the sound of her grandfather's declaration. The glass slipped from her hands, shattering as it hit the floor.

Alexia, still at Marcus's side, felt a cold shiver run down her spine as the words reached her ears. She knew nothing good could come of this. Rising from her chair, she began to head toward the door, but a large, firm hand grabbed her arm.

"Alexia Levett, you're coming to the office!" Maximus barked, his voice a storm of confusion and rage. Maximus dragged her into the office, practically hauling her by force. Once inside, he slammed the door shut, leaving the others in a haze of confusion and tension.

Back in the boardroom, Laura, overwhelmed by the revelation, felt her world tilt. The brother she had always leaned on, her ever-dependable sibling, wasn't her brother at all-he was her uncle. The weight of it blurred her vision, and the emotions became too much to bear. Her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the floor.

"Dad, help me get her to a chair! Bring me some alcohol!" Serenity cried, panic thick in her voice as she knelt beside Laura.

Marcus snapped out of his daze, his focus finally shifting to the two young women. Seeing Serenity care for Laura -the daughter of Maximus and, shockingly, her sister-triggered a deep pang of guilt. The innocence and kindness of these two girls only highlighted the darkness of the sins committed by the adults around them.

Marcus crouched down to assist. As he helped Laura to her feet, he looked at Serenity with softened eyes, her tears and distress cutting through his anger.

"Serenity... Do you know where your mother went?" he asked gently, his tone calmer than before. "No, Dad. She wanted us to leave, but I refused. I'm sorry, Dad! I didn't know how to react, and now look at this mess..." Serenity said, tears streaming as she worked to revive Laura.

"Calm down, sweetheart. None of this is your fault. It's mine-for letting you see all this and for not keeping my head cool when I should have," Marcus said, pulling her into a hug and kissing her forehead.

Marcus stood and looked around for Greta, who had earlier brought the first aid kit but was now nowhere to be

seen.

"Greta..."

"Yes, sir?" came her voice from the hallway.

"Have you seen my wife?" Marcus asked, his concern evident.

"Yes, sir. I saw her leave earlier, but I didn't see where she went. I thought she'd return, but it's been a while

now," Greta replied carefully.

"Greta, find Frederick and have him come here immediately. Tell him to search for my wife," Marcus instructed, his worry mounting.

As Greta nodded and hurried off to follow his orders, the office door slammed open with a deafening bang. Maximus stormed out, his face contorted with fury, his eyes blazing with rage. He didn't look at anyone, didn't say a word, but the energy radiating from him was enough to make the room fall silent.
